305/50/15 rim fitment

I have a 95 9C1 Caprice with the stock 15x7 steel wheels. I was planning on using a pair of 15x8 steel wheels from a van out back with either 295/50/15s or 305/50/15. I read the 305s would fit without rubbing, but I'm not sure they would fit on the 8" wide rims safely? For the fronts I will be using 255/50/15s on the same 15x8 steelies.

I scanned the 'net looking for both 305s and/or a fitment chart without much success. Could I use a light truck tire in the same size or is there major differences between car and truck tires?

the 305 will need a wider rim so I would suggest going to a 295 size which will fit your 8" wide wheels

Thank you Luke. Can you suggest a manufacturer that sell the 295s with Black Lettering? I kinda think running RWL / white walls facing in looks tacky
