overheating sucks!!!!

well I've replaced the thermastat, temp. sensor,and radiator cap but i continue to lose coolant and overheat. Oil isn't frothy. I actually watched the gauge start to drop after a short trip while idling in my driveway. Any help would be welcome.

When you start your car cold, does the temperature gauge slowly rise to full H, then suddenly drop back to normal range, then remain there until the next time you start the car cold?

How many miles on your car?

no usually it's a case of me drving stopping home and leaving again quickly. there is about 90k on the car.

I am not sure of this year car but some of the later ones have a plastic thermostat housing on the side of the motor (driver side) close to the front that is known to cause leaking of water by cracking. Sometimes this is after the car cools off. Check it out when hot and cold to see if you can see any leaks.

What's happening sounds like an air lock in the cooling system. There is a bleeder valve on the water outlet neck, make sure the coolant bottle has coolant in it (check it when cold only) then warm up the car and open the bleeder, this will force air out of the system, close the bleeder when coolant starts coning out. Let it run until the fans turn on and open the valve again to purge more air out. btw, your fans are working right?
