ABS Light 00 Beetle

Hi there I have a 2000 VW beetle and the ABS light comes on and off. I believe it may be a sensor. Any ideas?(Would like to avoid forking out $100. + tax to the dealer just to test) If it is a sensor any ideas on how to change it?
