Engine stall after moving a carlength.

'96 Tahoe 5.7L 4wd 112K miles - First post. Always starts. Can rev engine in "N" or "D" (with brake on) without stall. After moving about 10 ft. in forward or reverse engine sometimes stalls, sometimes completely, sometimes just for a second. Restarts fine. Runs O.K. if can get by the hiccup. Replaced plugs, wires, dist. cap. Any suggestions much appreciated.

I have the same problem with my 1996 Tahoe (135k miles). Did you figure out the cause? Please advise.

I removed and cleaned the positive battery cable connection at the battery. Lots of green copper oxide. Works fine now. Don't understand cause versus symptoms due to ease of starting?

Im New To Af.com As Well And Want To Share Some Knowledge. Recently My 2000 Tahoe Limited Had A Similar Issue. Mine Would Hic Up When I Started It, Sometimes It Would Start And Just Die Or Come Close To It, Or Even Shut Of While I Was Driving.

First Cause Was The Postive Side Terminal. I Hate Gm Uses Side Terminals Instead Of The Top Post. Cut The Rubber Off The Postive Terminal (two) And Expose The Metal. There Is A Spacer Lug In One Of The Terminals, Keep It, And After Cutting And Cleaning The Cables, Connect The Bare Terminal In The Same Order Using The Spacer.

Second Possibel Cause. After Buying A New Optima, Problem Returned About Two Weeks Later. Took It To The Dealership And I Had A Bad Cell And Needed To Replace It. Buy Optima Because They Carry A 3 Year Warranty. Went Back To Get A New Red Top, Dealer Dropped In, Runs Great.

Don't Sit On This Problem. Can Lead To Starter And Alt Problems If You Don't Fix It Soon.

look into the idle motor 50 bucks and a couple of wires
