a v6 700r4 tranny will not work and a v8, it will eat it alive on a 350.

Also, the 2.8 version of the 700R4 will not physically bolt any Chevy V8.
Being also that it's an '84, you're better off going with one from a later year (1987-up, an '86 is as good but doesn't have the aux valve body [there to cushion shifts into gear]). Make sure you get a V8 transmission - a 4.3 V6 trans will bolt to a 350, but doesn't have enough stacks in the clutches and will wear out in short order.

if your going to a performance 350, then get a 700r4 from a junk yard out of a v8 87-up and get it race built.

Waitaminit ... you said '95 700R4' - 'taint no such thing ... that'd be a 4L60E and while it LOOKS like a 700R4, it will not shift right without the computer that runs it. Verify that it's not a 4L60E - behind the 2-4 servo housing on the passenger side of the transmission, there's either a TV cable connection, or there's an electrical connection. If it has the electric plug on it (with many electic connections), you have the 4L60E and like I said, it won't work without the computer.
