a few newbie quesions

I want to maximize BHP with my exhaust system. I have Greddy Evo installed on my 98 Prelude and dont know what to get as far as intake and headers go.

Ceramic or stainless steel? 4-2-1 or 4-1? What brand?

Theres lots of intake, im familiar with Injen and AEM, but aside from price differences, I know little about the variation between these products.

If you have any recommendations, especially knowledge of headers/intake which perform well with the evo, hit me back. THanks:greenchai

for headers, dc seems to be the most popular. all headers are s/s, its just that one uses "mild" s/s with a ceramic coating. im not positive which is actually stronger, but ive been told the straight s/s is. i believe 4-2-1 gives a small gain over the entire band, and 4-1 gives more of an increase, but only at high revs.

as far as intakes go, theyre all the same. the only perk of getting the overpriced aem is because its carb exempt. but ive seen a brand on ebay called CP, and they sell for about $60, and they too have the carb sticker.

so theres no difference between a short and long AEM air intake?

everyone always says, colder air is better. 10degrees=1hp gain. and i just went along with it, cause i didnt know anything. but for whatever reason, cai's are better. i was going around on a bunch of random sites and i saw this dyno. both intakes were aem, shortram(red) and cai(blue). along the entire band the cai is equal or about 1-2hp higher, except at what is known as the "aem hump" where it has a huge jump over the shortram.

so i'd say, get the cai.

i think he meant that theres no difference in the brand of the intake, its all the same, just a metal tube, but aem is coated with some heat resistant material to reflect the heat inside the engine bay so that the air is cooler, denser, etc.
