I admit, I like playing them, but its not a habit only, when I get a feeling of being lucky (if theres such a thing) do I go out and play. Now I mostly buy those scratch games and I usually win. In fact today I got 25 US dollars out of a 5 dollar game. :grinyes: The most I ever won was 600 dollars but never more than that.
So I'm curious, anyone else win in the lottery, be it the big ones or the minor scratch ones?
Fire away folks.

I figure it's pretty much a good way to contribute to the state's educational fund, but still...but still.... hitting it big wouldn't suck.

i feel sorry for the guys in the US, you have to pay tax on it and if you want it all in one go they take 20% of it, or you have it in installments.
over here it's completely tax-free, and you get all of it in one go.

My girlfriend's parents buy scratch-its for everybody on Christmas. I think I'm up $8 in almost 4 years
I don't play though. If I'm gambling my money, I'd rather do it on something I have some control over...hence my addiction to poker. Of course with the amount of people that move all-in preflop now-a-days...it feels like a crapshoot quite often.

I know a lady that won the powerball thing in Minnesota, it was the largest jackpot ever. She won $42 million. It sucks because I think that once you know a lottery winner your chances of winning decrease.
I don't really play, I never have cash on me and I never really stop at convenience stores. I'm not about to run in to a 7-11 with my debit card to buy a scratch-off.

I played scratch-offs for about a week one summer. I think I netted about $4
My first year at college, me and my roommate bought Pick 3 tickets. I played 847 and didn't box it. it came out 874... I never played again :banghead:
Then we went to the riverboat casino on my birthday this year. I lost like $80 wjile my one friend made about $420 and the other came up with $200. I think the combination of my general bad luck and my birthday being 7-11 make it absolutely impossible for me to win at gambling. I got this dumb ass "Born Lucky" kanji tattoo on my arm when I was 17 and ever since then I think i've been getting punished for it

I'm waiting until I KNOW the numbers, then I'll play.
You know how they like to say "you can't win if you don't play"? My motto is I can't LOSE if I don't play. The odds are much higher that in the end you'll come out at a loss. I do know one addicted player who won $100,000 on a scratch off, although I'm certain that if she didn't already spend that much to get it, she'll end up doing so in the future!

Statistically speaking, the lottery is a tax on stupidity.

I play every friday, me and a buddy at work will spend about 10 bucks each on scratch offs in the morning and I just keep buying more tickets with the winnings from the first tickets when we are going to our other jobs. I never spend more than 10 bucks though, I never plan on taking that 10 bucks home, I did once when I won $257 but aside from that I havent ever won anything big.

I play the scratch off ones every now and then when I find change in the couch or something. Most I've won is $300.
