So I relocated to Las Vegas/Henderson area and looking to get in contact with modeling clubs/community here. Any thoughts, leads?
Also - any good model shops around - I did find HobbyTown USA - 2 of them, both are fairly well stocked... but looking for more alternatives.
Thanks.

Welcome to Sin City!
HobbyTown USA on Sahara/Decatur is the best stocked for import kits, okay for American kits. For car stuff, this is the best shop in town (that I've found.)
HobbyTown USA on Sunset/Green Valley is pretty lousy for import kits, but a pretty full aisle of American kits (but it's right by my house.)
Hobby People on Sahara/Decatur (yes, same intersection) has a decent mix of Tamiya + Aoshima / Revell + AMT, but not a very wide selection.
Hobby People on Boulder/Trop has about the same mix, but less of it. Looks like less shelf space.
As usual, Wal*Mart and Michaels have basic Revell and AMT.
None of the above are... let's say: "value priced."
Las Vegas IPMS meets at the Library downtown, but I've never been.
I think there's about half a dozen of us AF'ers in town now... We should try a mini-meet-up or something... :)

Thats fantastic - I am right in henderson (Gibron and Horizon Ridge off of 215.) Would love to go to IPMS presumably if they have any auto builders there... my understanding, at least from CA is that they are mostly armor and aircraft builders that attend those.
Hobbytown on Sahara and Decatur is the place I would go to for Japanese kits (lots of Fujimi, lots of Tamia and hard to find stuff like Italeri and Revell of Germany).
If anyone wants to meet up this weekend, we can go on a tour of the store together ;) Email me at [email protected].

(Glad to see there are some people around from NV - I thought I would be pretty lonely out here in terms of modeling buddies)

We're like neighbors. I live on Sunset/Green Valley and I work at 215/Green Valley.

I'll dig up the next date. It's like one Thursday a month at 6:30 or so. We can roll in with some nice shiny cars.

Totally. I need to go to the big HobbyTown anyway. :)
