Hello all.... I was thinking about buying my buddies car from him.. it is a 1981 Monte Carlo w/ the 3.8 turbo.. He has the original build sheet that says it is one of 3000 made.... Anyone else have one??? It is a solid 50,000 mile car..... Please any and all input would be appreciated.... Thanks

Well how much? I really wouldnt take it because if it IS the 1981 Monte Carlo Turbo, those things are a solid 19 sec car..
So unless you really want it or you need a car, then go for it.. 50K isnt much, but other than that, i'd pass up.

If it's in good condition, I'd jump all over it for that price, but that's just me. The early version Buick turbos certainly had their problems, but there is so much support for the later GNs, T-Types, and TTAs that upgrading the control system and fuel delivery would be very tempting. That same basic chassis/engine combo can be tuned to do 13's easily, and pushed to sub-9's with some serious work on the little one-gallon Buick. If nothing else, the fact that it is a rare car may push the value well over the asking price.
