Looks to me like one pipe is missing... Unless I they are running some different piping route than I would with that... It should be good for the most part though. If your missing a pipe I'm sure you can always get one somewhere or make your own. :2cents:

Also dont forget that a lot of times on ebay the pictures aren't always what you get. Maybe it said otherwise, but I've noticed even when they say it's the same one, it's usually not. 2 Cents also

so for the most part it looks legit for that price and should hopefully not be too big of a pain in the ass...

oh no, it'll be a pain in the ass... but once its done, and you dont blow pipes off anymore... you'll love it!

Black99GST

drill not so much, Saw-zaw (rep saw) is needed, screw driver, basic hand tools... you need a way to mount the core thought... here is the write up on my FMIC install, hope it helps.

is the kit i linked short route piping.. and is the pipe from the turbo to intercooler missing?
Blackcrow64
10-17-2006, 09:40 PM
It looks like it is indeed the short route piping... But I'm not entirely sure about the pipe from the turbo to the intercooler... Did you buy the kit then? Did you not get all the pipes it shows?
rock0134
10-18-2006, 01:41 PM
the kit should come soon.. i think i might buy some more piping and couplers and clamps separate if i need to...
2 questions... is that really the greddy type rs bov, and iis it a good bov?
And, what is the best way to mount the intercooler, can you weld to it or drill holes to the sides of it?

That is a fake greddy type rs
I have that exact one sitting somewhere. Piece of shit with plastic internals.
The real grddy types rs is bomb

The Greddy Type RS is a good BOV, but I doubt it really is a RS.

Oh and I forgot to mention one thing. If your planning on recirculating that immitation blow off valve won't do it. Even if you get the recirculation kit for the real greddy type rs it doesn't fit. The real greddy type rs has a bigger venting thingy.

so that is for sure a fake greddy? how bad is it
And how can you mount the intercooler like drilling into it or weld to it???

Weld some mounting brackets onto it. If you drill holes your gonna end up with boost leaks. lol
steviek
10-18-2006, 07:08 PM
I promise you its not authentic but the kit looks fine and Im sure it works fine. And its not like the blow off valve is soo entirely complex, like i bet it works and stuff. But just be prepared if someone calls you out on it when your hood is open cause I could tell.

haha i dont give a shit about name brands i just dont want cheap ass shit... i have a 1g bov right now so.
So you can just straight up weld brackets to the intercooler? i thought that it is made out of aluminum and you cant weld to aluminum unless you have an aluminum welder???

Know anybody that can tig weld? All you need is a tig welder and your set to weld them to it.

yeah that one looks like the same as my turbo xs but with a different core. same pipes and everything. but the flange on the pipe looks like a 1g BOV to me.
NOFX0617
10-19-2006, 09:36 PM
On that fake greddy BOV the only big differance on those is there is a little gasket in the middle of it....the one on the fake Greddy ones is really cheap and will wear out really quickly...you can replace just the gasket with the real one from greddy...there is a huge write up on it on dsmtuners....

ill just use jb weld to put the brackets on haha
rock0134
10-21-2006, 12:54 PM
the flange type of thing that comes off of the turbo and is conected to the stock lower intercooler pipe and goes to the intercooler is pointed to the passenger side which is fine for the stock sidemount... but since the pipe needs to go the other way for the front mount, can that be takes off and switched around???
cavyboy23
10-21-2006, 01:39 PM
I dont kno if jb weld would actually hold that good i mean you could try it but if you use the car as an everyday driver i personally wouldnt do it one because its off ebay and you hardly ever get whats pictured and i dont kno if jb weld can hold that much pressure and i doubt it would work as good as a regular weld, one of my buddys baught some crap turbo off there and blew it in like 2 and a half months he was running everythign proper 2 but he was thinking the same way like ill just throw cheap parts on there but go for it let me kno how it works out.

10-21-2006, 01:41 PM
All though i could be wrong.
rock0134
10-21-2006, 05:56 PM
So that flange thing thats attached to the turbo can be taken off and flipped around so that i can have the intercooler piping go towards the drivers side and then around to the intercooler.

what should i use for the brackets to hold the core to the car?

Angle iron or strips of aluminum.

Not necessarily, aluminum is very strong, if not stronger than most iron.
You're talking about a piece of aluminum that weighs what ~20 lbs max? And it sits behind the bumper, so really the only support you're using is to hold it from the force of gravity. People think aluminum isn't nearly as strong, but it's actually very strong, lighter, and it would look much better than a piece of rusted angle iron. And when I say strips, I don't mean like a little strip, I'm talkin a 1" x 1/2" "piece" of aluminum.
Aluminum FTW!

Oh, I thuoght they were talkin about those cheap flimsy strips of aluminum that a 5 year old can bend. lol
I know aluminum can be stronger in some cases, but wait till you see how I'm gonna mount mine using the angle iron and some aluminum tabs... :icon16:

So i got recieved HALF of the kit, everything except for the intercooler.... Would they ship the intercooler separate for any reason maybe to protect it???
And the fake greddy type rs bov that came with it is too stubby for the flange on the upper ic pipe but i think my 1g is going to work with it.

Donno, did they give you any kind of tracking number? If they are two seperate packages then they should have given you two numbers... If not, well maybe you should contact them.

Luckily I have a friend that works at fed ex and told me that there is another package coming...
And my 1g is going to fit on the flange that came with it so the type rs bov is pointless i guess.. what does the hard and soft on the greddy bov mean??

i bought made an offer on an ebay piping kit with all kinds of different bends on the 2.5" that came with tons of couplers and clamps... It was buy it now for 90 bucks and i made an offer for 40 that was accepted haha id suggest doing that so that you have more than enough piping, clamps, and couplers.

I suggest extremepsi.com as I have dealt with them before and they are good. Also IIRC their coupler adapters are actually cheaper than Slowboys...

the fake Greddy BOV also has a really cheap Diaphram(s/p) seal... it will wear out and you will have a boost leak... i would get a better one ASAP! i head about this from a few friends, aswell as read about it in import tuner mag. so i wouldnt put to much trust in it... :2cents:

The cool thing is that the piping kit came with the fake type rs and the flange already on the uicp is for a 1g bov, which i had already so ill be using that, i just have to make a gasket for it.
