Yesterday I went to the store and while pulling out my car died, It started back up so I didnt think much of it. Then not even 15 feet away it died again. So I took a look under the hood and seen that the cause of the problem was that the battery terminal shorted out. after that I moved the battery and it drove home. The car sat till this morning, when I tried to start it all it would do is click and act like the battery was dead, All the gauges went crazy. The Oil pressure and temp gauges Pointed STRAIGHT down. When I try to turn my stereo on, it turns itself on and off infinately. When I try to use anything in the car that is electric, Only about half of the lights on the dash go REALLY dim and the speedometer and fuel gauges jump. BUT, the battery is not dead, and the altanator is good. The only way I can start the car is by sticking a screwdriver to the voltage regulator by the battery. Im thinking its a voltage regulator. Im replacing the one by the battery today, But I think there is another. I guess my question is where and how many voltage regulators are there?
Any help Is greatly Appreciated.

UPDATE: I replaced the part, it was bad but my gauges were still going crazy. then I remembered when I replaced the battery 3 months ago, it wasnt like the original, the polarities were reversed. So I had to disconnect the small ground wire that comes off the negative battery clamp, All I had to do was reconnect the wire and tada! like new. I dont know how such a small ground could do such horrable things. So if u have the same problem just make sure this wire is connected. heres a pic
So thanks for your help anyway, hope this helps someone in the future.http://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k106/AbuseTheElderly/carbattery.jpg
