Horns Inoperative...

I have a 1997 LaSabre Limited with radio/temp controls in the steering wheel.
Recently I noticed touching anywhere within the center of the steering wheel would actuate the horns as it should be but very sensitive.
Now horns are inoperative to the touch and also when locking the car with the keyless remote. I can hot wire them and they work fine.
Any help would be appreciated.

It is appearing that you have two problem loacations.

If the keyless remote usually beeped the horn then the PCM is activating the horn relay. Check out the horn fuse (20amp?) and possibly relay area. You may need to look for signals when the wheel is pressed, it possibly requires 2 people one of which may need earmuffs.

Maybe someone can post where that may be for your model.

Good Luck.

I hope that was a typo. PCM? Should be BCM (body control module). FYI.

Found the problem which was the driver side horn shorted.
The horn fuse is located on the passenger side fuse block. The 15 amp fuse was blown. I disconnected the driver side horn all works well. Am off to the dealership to purchase the "F" note horn at a ridiculous price of $38 and that's trade price. List $48.
Thanks for the help.

Could be BCM... :) hmmm..

Might be a better deal to try a junk yard or used part.

I get it.. I get it.
