what years are you talking about? I was told that a 1967 was not considered a muscle car, because it was too big.

More like a muscular land barge. If it has a 302 in it, definitely not even muscular. But with a 390 or 427, it is definitely muscle, but not a "muscle car." Mr. Pbody will disagree with me, but I think compacts and pony cars count as muscle with the right engines. A hemicuda is a muscle car, as is a ss396 nova. Galaxies and New Yorkers, etc. are not, even though they have big powerplants

^I kinda see what you mean after they switched from the Galaxie's to Fairlanes in some drag racing and NASCAR.(I think correct me if i'm wrong) The Galaxie's got bigger but still had some the big motors to move them around... But nomader what the conclusion we come to people still call mine and i'll still call it a muscle car.

To be a big car, they're lighter than I expected. My uncle has a '69 w/ a 351W. It runs alright..

I agree the big cars and compacts have plenty of "muslce", but by the strict definition of the class, ONLY intermediate cars qualify. You can disagree with me, too, but my information comes from the era, not the "net". One must read "Glory Days" by Jim Wangers, to fully understand where the term "muscle car" came from, and when.

Sure, that works for a dictionary definition. But when I look at a car, it's on a case-by-case basis to determine if I consider it a muscle car. To me, a big-block Mustang is definitely a muscle car, so is a Nova with an LT1 or 396, to me, if you look at a car, and it screams, "I'm a muscle car!" then it is, as long as it doesn't have a 6-cylinder hiding under the hood. M3FordBoy's Galaxie screams "muscle car" when you look at it. Works for me, I don't follow the strict definition.
