I have a 99 GP SE, 3.1L 124,000 miles. About 8 months ago, I replace all 4 struts. Before and after replacing the struts, there was a clunking noise coming from the back end. It is most noticable when crossing railroad tracks or hitting large bumps, i dont hear it when turning or hitting small bumps. I have narrowed it down to the driver's side rear strut. When the car is parked and I pull on the top of the wheel, it makes the clunking noise. When I jack the car up and do the same thing, it doesnt make the noise. The bearings seem alright and I had a realignment done when I changed the struts and the shop said the other suspension parts were good. This is the only wheel/strut that does this. Could it be a strut mount? Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks

Sure does sound like a strut mount. Did you DIY? If not did you try tightening down the nut on top of strut? When I replaced the struts and springs I had to get aftermarket washers for the tops of the mounts to eliminate the clunking. However, I used lowering springs. Just a thought, not too hard to get in there and crank them down. Before and after throws me off though...
