NewOwner- 2006 Mountaineer! Questions!

Hello, My name is chris and my father has just purchased a 2006 Mountaineer Premier. I am like his "car (http://www.mercuryforum.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=742&PN=1&TPN=1#) consultant" since day one, do all the research, mods, maintenance. I'm very knowledgable about cars and the scene of automotive OEM/Aftermarket, so im definitely eager to learn about this one...
Have a couple of questions about the vehicle (http://www.mercuryforum.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=742&PN=1&TPN=1#) we just bought that I'm sure you guys have more than enough knowledge to help me out in:

-My dad's Mount does not have factory satellite radio (http://www.mercuryforum.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=742&PN=1&TPN=1#). However, i know that it is the same radio which means the "AUX" button is probably for the satellite radio. How can i wire this up myself or aftermarket wise?

-I know on all the 2007 models, the audio input jack is a stock feature that is available in the center armrest near the electrical outlet. Now i see on my father's 2006 model there is a "space holder" for what looks like could be a second spot for a cigarette outlet, but exactly where the Audio input jack is on the 2007 model. How can I wire this up? (my father is really into his ipod (http://www.mercuryforum.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=742&PN=1&TPN=1#), if not this way, anyway to use the AUX output for the radio button?)

Thanks for your guys help, I am eager to learn and meet all of you. I'm not a newb when it comes to surfing forums, I have been a avid member of Focajet Focus forum since 2001 (same handle there) and hope this is the same or close environment here!

You'd be best served, especially if you like to do your own maintenance, to purchase the factory service manual. That will give you the wiring diagrams for the audio system which should show you what all components are likely needed for the satellite radio. You'll need at least the antenna and associated cable. Then I'm not sure if it would just be plug and play.

What does the owner's manual say about the "Aux" button on the factory deck? It may inform you that it can also be used for items such as the iPod.

You could also try to cross reference the factory deck in your 2006 to the comparable deck in a 2007. If they are the same model number, then you should be able to add the auxilliary input jack and any associated cabling from the the 2007 model year to add the feature.

on 06 the aux. button will only opperate a for dealer installed sat. radio unit - 07 radios are updated for the input port.
