98 ZX2 Sputtering

This problem has been happening for a while bit it is really driving me nuts now. I have a 98 ZX2 manual tran, everytime I let go of the gas in ANY gear the car jerks as it slows down. Also sometimes when I accelerate it also jerks a little. Its really prominant when slowing down from 2nd gear. Any ideas on what may be causing this? I have my own assumption and just wanted to see what you guys thought.

Sounds like a clogged fuel filter or failing pump to me.
