OK lets get this party started. I want you guys/girls to tell me what you think is the best or what you would like to own. Ducati, Honda, Suzuki, etc. Tell me what you own and despise. Any way have fun!

To many different types and intended uses to single out one make.
if it was merely by contribution to the whole sport in general, I'd go with Honda for bringing motorcycling to the general public with affordable, reliable and innovative products...BTW did you see the Honda 50 has surpassed 50 million units sold since introduction?
Those things are amazing...in Asia you'll see three people on one, or a woman with about 20 chickens, or towing a bunch of people on bicycles...150 mpg...nearly zero maintenance...i've had people tell me in cold climates where the little motor is hard to start, they just let them idle non-stop...barely uses any fuel..

to many things to consider!
everyone has a personal favourite and all have their downside.
although i love my honda...... my vote goes to suzuki. just because its a hooligan tool. and decent set of nuts are required to use the power fully.

im DEFINATELY not going to answer the question given, but on a very novice and fairly uneducated decision, i WILL say that kawasaki represent everything that is BIKES to me, given that i spent my childhood aboard kx's, my first was an 80, then a 125, and i had a ride on the back of a 250 when i was knee-high to a grasshopper and thought it was the most insane thing at the time... my first road bike was (and is) a honda cbr250r but i consider it to be just a stepping stone to hopefully aquiring a zx636 and then hopefully when im ready a '06 zx10 :)
but i do NOT, repeat DO NOT consider them the best bikes of all time!!!
(dont flame me please!)
(ps. this question is ridiculously stupid, no offence to the writer but its just going to cause a endless debate, and i think instead you should just give YOUR opinion on what YOU like to ride, not nececssarly the BEST :) )

ALRIGHT!:banghead: Sorry for all the fuss. OK. I revised what I meant to say. So base it on what you have or owned or want, don't base it on what has the best specs and all. So I hope this clears up whats going on.

Do you want me to change your poll, or do you think it still meets the "specs" of your new question?
And, to get the NEW party started... I would LOVE to have an Aprilia... I saw one last Thursday and I just DROOLED on the window as I stared at it. The rider actually came in and asked why the whole group of us (almost all riders) was staring at him. We just kinda giggled and explained. That said, I'd also be all about an MV. Flat-out gorgeous lines.

I also the dig the Mille, both generations. 60 deg twin just has that good mix between Japanese handling and Italian power. Easy on the eyes as well, but I actually gawk at all sportbikes, including my own if I see it pass by on the street. :D
The only eyesores are Kawasaki ZZR touring bikes, because when I turn my head for a 4-cyl, I get a big disappointment.

Way too hard. The Speed Triple and the Brutale are my personal favorites. I did however vote for Suzuki. They have the SV650(Which I own), and used to import the SV1000. The Hayabusa reigned king for a looooong time. Even after a couple of failed attempts by Kawi to dethrone them. Up until now, the Busa was untouchable. Even though I would never buy one, I recognize the intensity of it after riding one well into the triple digits. It's literally science fiction like fast.
But, I think it is the SV that makes it so. If you've never ridden one of these, get one anyways. I wish they still made the nekkid one for our shores, but that'll give me an excuse to buy a triple one day.

Why? I don't think highly of them, myself... having learned on one (a Dakar, so it had the awful b/w paint scheme, too) I'd prefer a plethora of other bikes.

:screwy: idk, i thought they looked cool. i want an on/off that can cruise comfortably at 70mph on the highway. what would your choice be?

For a dual sport, I'd probably opt Suzuki, I guess. The BMW is a screamer at 50 let alone 70. It was life-risking trying to take it on the interstate.

My 2005 Yamaha V-max has proven to be quite a fun machine. IT's got PLENTY of balls and the sport bikes usually take it for a joke which leaves em surprised when I beat them to 130mph or at least keep up. Of course there are several models that leave me wondering if I'm in one of those bad dreams where you are running but not really going anywhere.
Anyway, the cons are it's quirky as hell. Lots of wobble at speeds over 130 when there are more than 1000 miles on the rear tire. The carbs are always doing weird shit, and it seems the bike can go 0 to 100 much faster than it can go 100 to 0 which has gotten me into plenty of trouble. Call me a hopeless romantic, I love the bike!

The best bike of all time is the one YOU own and ride every day the weather allows. For each that is a different model, but there is nothing like the open air and freedom allowed by our hobby. I've had every type of bike there is, and cruisers are more my style now. I acknowledge every motorcyclist I pass, and even though I have a Harley now, I still appreciate the Harley jokes (because many are/were true at one point or another, not to mention funny is funny,). I hate people who knock something they don't own, or snub their nose at a different brand/type of bike when they have no clue.
