Help please! I have a 94 acclaim, with 199,000 miles on it. Just replaced the power steering pump. V6 engine. This morning i was driving kids to school and anytime I slow down to stop, the car dies. Then when I finally get it going again, and really start going over 40 mph, the engine kind of "races", i barely can give it any gas and it will just take off quickly. We replaced the timing belt 2 February's ago, and that looks to be fine. Does this sound like the fuel pump to anyone? Or does anyone have any other suggestions? We realllly need this car to get kiddos to school and back, and we have 5 children including 2 3 mo old twin boys! We could use any help anyone can offer.

thanks!

i once had a similar problem after filling my vehicle up with gas.after i topped off my car would not idle.as long as i drove over 30 mph it ran fine.but anytime it idle it would die.several mechanics told me that the fuel injectors had to be cleaned.:frown:a friend of mines recommended to me lucas fuel aditive before spending the money in getting the injectors cleaned. put a small bottle in the tank at the auto parts store, before i left the parking lot the idle was back to normal.:)

I'd check trouble codes, anything? You might check the throttle position sensor also. I'm just saying check it, don't replace anything, yet.
