well guys im new to the neon world and need some help. I recently aquried a 96 2dr sohc mtx neon HIGHLINE i think) w/120,000 miles for FREE (needs head gasket and timing belt). While i was removing i noticed that the bushings for the shifter cabes were missing (every one yells BOOGERS...) ...... what about a solid bushing such as alum. or brass. I have 2 alum. bushings....from what i dont know.... that fit perfectly with no mods at all. Will these work or will they cause more harm tha good?????

It would work, however, the bushings you are describing would need to be put in as straight as possible to avoid pre-mature wear on the cables. The neons mostly come with plastic bushings for this reason.
