Ok so today i got a new mounting kit for my cars cd player cause the other 1 stuck out like 2 inches n i was gonna put that in and take the dash apart to paint it. but then i ran into a problem the 1 screw on the passenger side under the vent is stripped it just spins around then gets tight n then loose again it is pissin me off any idea of how to get it out of there without messing up the dash

get a lil piece of duct tape n stick it in where u unscrew it, and it might be able to form and shape to the contour of the bolt, then just unscrew it like u normally would, its a long shot but try it.

Or you can try grabbing it with some pliers?? :dunno: Jersey's idea wasnt bad either.

you could also take a little drill bit and drill it in there and then use the bit to take the screw out, that make any sense

Well i tried the duck tape idea but no luck then i just used a flat head screw driver n pried on it n turned it out n now my cd player dosen't stick out like 2 inches lol n i can use my cup holder  they really need some better cup holders in the cavaliers i only have 1 unless i flip my center console open n still even then i only have 3

So you just pryed it with a flathead then, glad to see it worked for you. Yeah screw the cup holders in the cavy's IMO the only one that works well is the one that is in the center console when you open it, not the one that is on the bottom of the armrest but that other one.

Well if you plan on doing it the right way with sanding and everything, one day isnt going to be anywhere close to enough time. count on at least a week.
*EDIT* I'm guessing you already seen this thread, but its the best I know of on how to paint the interior http://www.j-body.org/forums/read.ph...=70341&t=70341 (http://www.j-body.org/forums/read.php?f=45&i=70341&t=70341)

I was talking more about a beginner trying to take everything apart. Of course for someone that has been doing it its going to be a helluva lot quicker.

Ya i want to take my time n take stuff appart n not break anything plus after today i will be really slow i got the end of my finger nail ripped off in auto class n its kinda sore im still trying to come up with how i want everything painted
Lances133
09-14-2006, 12:30 PM
I hear ya man, taking apart the dash isn't tough, just unscrew all the screws hold it down and then it's only clips holding it in, just easily pull up on the stuff and you're good. But yes, you wanna think about everything you want red and every stock charcoal piece you want to paint black or whatever color you want. Plan it out just dont go in there and start painting stuff red because it sticks out and you can. Plan it out so you actually have a color scheme that flows with your interior.

Also make sure when you start taking all the screws out you remember where each one goes.
