I was driving along a road today and the car stumbled,it just seemed to miss a few times and then picked up again as if nothing had happened.I was wondering if anyone else had a similar experience and what the fault was Thx

Nope. Haven't seen it. It may never happen again or it could be a sign something is starting to fail. If it happens again I would go to Autozone or Pepboys and have them download any codes the OBDII system may have set. It's free. Or...and I'm not sure this works on an 01...turn the key from off to on leaving it on the third time then count the number of times the check engine light flashes. A code 21 would be flash, flash, pause, flash. If you see a code come back here. All codes are two digits. Should finish with a 55.
You may or may not have seen the check engine light come on when it happened. Many think the check engine light has to come on for a code to be set. Not true.

ENGINE TRANSMISSION AND MILEAGE?
What is the tune up and service history and mileage?
Check engine light?
Are you running the tank low on fuel/ Fuel filter?
As said some parts places will read codes but.
Use Caution when getting the free code checks please.
Some parts places do offer free code checks. And also free repair advice. But beware. Just get the code no and post it back here and someone will help you.
They offer the free code checks in the hope of increasing there parts sales.
Almost all of them will also offer mechanical advice and some know what they are doing.
But just remember most of them are parts people pulling codes for free.
Not trained professional tech/mechanics. Even if they pull a 02-sensor code or another sensor related code it does always mean to replace that sensor and your problem will be fixed.
Please just get the code no and post it back here and we will help you.

A blinking check engine lights is a sign of misfire,
Steady light is a code set.
Get them codes present and history.
Try to get the code that is stored in the memory.
It may help head you the right direction.
Also may be time for a good tune up.
Let us know how it goes.

When everyone is referring to a tune up does that mean setting the valves and renewing plugs and leads?
