There is probably at least one good reason you're not hearing any more about it.

i tried it out and i think all it did was clean out everything to make a few more mpg, because when i ran regular fuel without acetone afterwards, the mileage didnt go back down again. so i dont think it is an actual mileage booster, just a gunk-cleaner

It is kinda strange about the gas mileage increase.

yeah my motor had a lot of gunk in it as well as the carb before i used the acetone, so that would probably explain it lol... oh yeah and there are people who claim that acetone will eat away certain rubber seals in the carb and will also corrode any brass pieces, such as the main jets and other "gold" colored things in the carb

As a one time fuel system cleaner it shouldn't hurt anything, I would also be concerned with the life of mainly rubber parts.
Gas makers used to add benzene to the mix in colder climates for the winter, this was to make the cars start easier. I doubt it has been done since sometime in the early 1970s.

lol what acetone IS good for at least, is when your lawn mower has bad gas and you need to get it running to draw fresh gas in, just dump acetone into the carb and it will fire right up lol...

i used it during the summer a few times and averaged 1-2mpg increase. it does nothing when using it with the winter gas. i use 3oz for every 10 gallons.
