Hello everybody~nothing posted for a long time, now i'm working on this beautiful 2+2 coupe of
ferrari,it's built for a friend of mine,a great modeler who has just quited from his modeling
life.i hope it can be finished within 3 months if everything goes well.but recently i've got
a terrible cold...OK here are the progress so far.
http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c141/auw12/612%20scaglietti%20lusso/DSC00053.jpg
some testfit, nice detail on revell kits,as good as TAMIYA IMO.

http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c141/auw12/612%20scaglietti%20lusso/DSC00055.jpg
chassis got terrible distortion...= =
http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c141/auw12/612%20scaglietti%20lusso/DSC00056.jpg
fitness of the hood sucks,i fixed them with some sand works.looks better now.
http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c141/auw12/612%20scaglietti%20lusso/DSC00057.jpg
nice detail work on the seats, but it's really excrescent that the seatbelts were molded togather with the
seats,it took me much time to clean them up.
http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c141/auw12/612%20scaglietti%20lusso/DSC00059.jpg
http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c141/auw12/612%20scaglietti%20lusso/DSC00060.jpg
http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c141/auw12/612%20scaglietti%20lusso/DSC00061.jpg
some testfit with seatbelts, just testfit so the belt is now in correct size, will be wider when finished.

Hi,

I got this kit some time ago, the chassis of mine is twisted as yours.

IŽll build mine with a closed hood, as IŽll use the engine for aanother project.

Details on the seats look good, IŽll follow this one.

Nice start! My chassis was terribly warped too, I think it's something to do with Revell quality control... Anyhow, you've fixed the biggest flaw in the kit (the hood), so it should be smooth sailing for you!

Good Luck!

drew out with autocad and made with some styrene sheets.

Wow, great scratchbuilding !!!

MPWR

Nice work on the front grille. Great idea, great execution. You cut the styrene by hand using your pattern? The rear heating vent looks terrific, too. Hopefully it will be visible through the back window.

So thus far you'd say the kit is nicely detailed, but has fit issues and is warped in places? I've been wondering if this is a good one to pick up for an 'easy' build. The 612 is not a Ferrari I love so much that I'm likely to get sucked into an 18 month project on it, but I wouldn't be keen to spend months having to fix obnoxious flaws. The engine looks like it has some nice detailing potential. Are the accessory drive belts molded in place there on the engine front?

Wonderful job on grill, mate!

I also want point you on weel arches before painting: seem you done something cleaning body shell but real scangi have just thin fenders, despite the huge width of revell stuff. Great start so far.
Another one (last) in both my 612 the fender width is ... different: the right one is deeper (view from top) of approx 1mm: just check!!

DasWiesel
09-13-2006, 11:35 AM
Wow! Your front grille looks much cleaner than the one i made!
I thought about improving the heating vent and the upper belt fixing, too, but i was too lazy :icon16:
BTW: The back of the kit-seats is incorrect also. Just take a look at page 3 of my 612 thread.

09-14-2006, 02:51 AM
thank you very much for your great comments and tips guys!:icon16:
MPWR:i think it's a nice one which is worth building in short period.i'm planning to finish it within no more than 1 and a half month.it has nice detail and just a few small flaws to fix,the engine is molded nicely, but i haven't checked the bolt carefully so far,i will get to work with the engine this week, and i 'll post some clearer pics for you.

gio:the fenders are really in different size before i fixed them,i think it's because of the warped chassis.

Julian:your 612 is just awesome!!!why i didn't find this great thread before i started?very inspired!thanks a lot for your remind on the seat back man.i haven't got some great ref-pics on the seat back, would you please post some here?THX!:naughty:

@auw12
No need to bother! IŽm one of the veeery slow builders in here, so my 612 thread is a bit older. i still have to fix the oil cooler and the covers below engine and rear axle. :cwm27:

Everything you've done so far looks fantastic!

By the way, can anyone who's seen a 612 in person confirm that the whole "blades" of the front grille are chrome and not just leading edges? I wasn't able to tell with 100% certainty either way from looking at the pictures.

Just fantastic, fantastic!

Also if you're planning to do a 360CS you'll find 1 for free in the 360 console :( I discover it after my scratch work for the 575 :D

By the way after the "auw12 cure" the revell mold seem another thing, near the tamiya standard, congrats mr. wizard :D :thumbsup::worshippy

1133:that's Gunze lacquer No.3 red, seems some of you europeans or americans hard to find Gunze stuffs in your local shops, they're really very impressive stuffs.that's it,but some works should be done on the base coat to make it the leathery feeling.when some orignal surface coats were done,i sprayed a lot of very thin white surface on the seat, with a kind of highly volatilization thinner to make a fast dry, then you can see the result.
klutz buddy i can show you some beautiful and "highly detailed" toothpick some day as you wish~~~:icon16: :evillol: :naughty: :smokin:  i can send some to you if you like~~~~

I tried to use detail master ignition wire for interior piping, but its such a pain...it barely works, probably due to the fact that I'm trying to glue rubber to painted plastic using MM instant adhesive. I'm waiting for MFH's Piping cord. But I like your use of stretched plastic trees.

Did you use red plastic or paint afterwards?
