turbo not spooling!!

I installed a 13g turbo on my 93 talon tsi because my 14b siezed up, but after I installed the 13g on my car it wouldn't spool up. I got zero psi's of boost. The 13g was in great shape and had almost no shaftplay. I thought maybe it was the acuator so I changed it out with my cousin's actuator off of his stock 14b and the 13g still wouldn't boost. The 13g kept making a loud "WOOOO" type of noise. What could be the reason why this 13g wont spool?? Could it be because I'm using my 14b manifold?? I removed the 13g from my car and opened it up to inspect it and there was nothing wrong with the turbo. Does anyone have a solution to my problem??

How does the wastegate flapper look? Also the actuator arm? If it spins freely it is probably something simple and disconnected. Check all the vac lines and also does a boost leak test to see if maybe you missed a coupler or somethinglike that. A 14b manifold is fine to use with a 13g...

The flapper looks great, no cracks, and the actuator arm is perfect. The guy I got the turbo from says that the turbo has just been rebuilt and it looks like it has. I checked the lines over and over again, but I haven't performed a boost leak test.

:rofl: Whoa I dont know if I can deal with so much thread. The 13g and 14b arent direct replacements. They have different manifold to turbo holes and shit. The exhaust is probably just leaving before the turbine and isnt spinning it over fast enough to make boost. Get yourself a 14b or 16g variant and have fun.

He probably would have noticed the insanely loud exhaust leak at the turbo :P Are you sure about the bolts not lining up exactly?

:lol: I'm right dammit. Either get a 14b or a 13g manifold (dont get a 13g manifold, just get a damn 14b.

Also, have you driven it on the street? It wont make any boost just revving in neutral.
