I have the delco Bose stereo system in my car. (94 camaro z28), and the speakers were taken out before I got it. Well in the drivers side door they left the "box" thing. It has several wires coming off the wiring harness into it, and two wires going out that would go to a speaker, and it goes behind the speaker.
What I want to know is- Where are the amps in the delco bose stereo system? Are the speakers powered directly from the radio? Can I run new wires from the radio to the speakers and have them work?

Each speaker has its own amp. The head unit itself sends out a very weak signal. Your best bet is to buy a replacement complete enclosure via ebay or a salvage yard. I can help you locate one if you like or you can take on the expense of scrapping the bose system and moving on to a aftermarket set up now. Which would require replacing the head unit and the speakers as a whole.

ok so those box things are amps. I've looked in a few junk yards they seem to be the first things to go.
I think I am just going to replace the entire thing, becuase the wiring harness has around been hacked apart so if I got the amps I'd pretty much have to run new wires anyway.
Thanks John.

No, those are just the enclosure's. The amps are inside it along with the speaker. They claimed something at one point about using those enclosures for acoustics but I think it was just a reason to charge you a arm and a leg.

so does that mean that +12v is coming to the speaker straight from the battery? thats pretty awesome..
but anyway, stepho, itll prolly be cheaper to buy an aftermarket cd player, + speakers.. but then again it wont look stock. i wish i had my stock speaker/deck but whoever touched my car before me messed it all up..
