hey i got a honda civic 93 sir and usually whenever im at a red light or sometimes driving, the odometer (rev meter) jumps up and down like crazy when it should just be resting. anyone know what could be causing this and how to fix it?? thanks

You mean the tachometer? The odometer measures your mileage. Anyhow; if the RPM keeps changing randomly it can be caused by many things. The first two things to check are:
1. Vacuum leak:
This is usually a loose hose that just needs to be reconnected.
2. Throttle position sensor:
A bad throttle position sensor can cause the engine to rev then go back to idle and rev again, all at random times. To check this you will have to take it somewhere and have them hook it up to a computer to check the sensor. You can do it yourself with the proper equipment.
These are the first two things that I would check. Perhaps someone else has some relevant ideas?

OK, I am pretty sure that you mean your tachometer, not your odometer.
As Polygon said I would check to see if any of your vacuum hoses are disconnected, those are usually the main reason for that. Usually your TPS doesn't go bad, but on occasion it does.

One of the brutal Tempo's i drive at work does that....it's goes crazy...but the engine isn't doing anything.....hmm...i know nothing about the mechanicals of cars..so i can't help ya

Oh yea...and in that same car the speedo says your doing 5 km/h when your completely stopped...lol...gotta love Tempo's
