Help: HOT lighter fuse

I have a '94 Ranger and the 20A fuse for the cigarette lighter:smokin: (and whatever else it's for) gets EXTREMELY HOT:evillol: . I burned my fingers trying to take it out. :crying:

Finally had to use pliers to remove it to avoid more scorching of the flesh.

I replaced the fuse with a brand new one and it immediately got hot. Any ideas what's going on here?

I'll be icing my fingers while I wait for a response.:uhoh:
