'95 Blazer (S10) needs more power when towing

What can I do to get more power and less heat from my 4x4 Blazer when towing a trailer. I'm pulling a 12' trailer with a Polaris Ranger (1200 pounds) in a hilly area. If I get over 60 mph, the temperature starts going up (along with the RPM's) and I'm afraid I'm going to destroy the engine. Are there any performance modifications that can help without breaking the bank? Also, while pulling, I only get about 10 miles per gallon! Thanks for your help.

Buy a new radiator for an S10 designed for pulling a trailer it will have more passes. Go to a good radiator shop for advise.

Also think about a shift kit for towing. takes a couple of hours to put in without removing the trans, Will definetly help you.

A more efficient transmission cooler would help also.

Thanks for the quick response all. Unfortunately I bought a new radiator a couple months ago but didn't know I could get one for towing. It is better with the new one but could be better.

As far as a shift kit and transmission cooler, are these available at auto parts stores or should I take it to a mechanic to install?

You should be able to purchase these at a good parts store or a 4-wheel dr. shop.
You have to determine if you can install them.
