Dont worry about it, the best definition of a rice boy is from riceboypage.com
Who/What Exactly Is a Rice-Boy?
Rice-Boy is a stereotype. The typical Rice-Boy can be identified by his car, or rather what he does to it. Generally, Rice-Boy will start out with a car that was not meant to go fast (typically a Honda Civic), and attempt to "fix it up," usually consisting of aftermarket rims, lowering springs and an aftermarket exhaust system with a large exhaust tip.
Most Rice-Boy cars (or "Rice Rockets") have the usual complement of stickers proudly displaying features that the car might or might not have, most notably, the Honda VTEC sticker from the later model Preludes, and the plaques from the later model Integras.
Rice-Boys do not exclusively drive Japanese cars. There are quite a few fake Mustang '5.0's and Camaro Z28's out there, as well as quite a few strange looking Neons.
Under the Hood of Rice-Boy's Car
Of course, most of the modifications done by Rice-Boy do not actually increase the performance of his car by any significant amount, but rather, try to give the appearance of high-performance. What most Rice-Boys seem to not know is that many of the things they do to their cars to make them faster actually hurt the performance.
http://www.riceboypage.com/what_is_riceboy/civic.jpg
The Generic Rice-Boy Civic
For example -- I have seen many a Civic with aftermarket rims with the wrong wheel offset, or just plain lowered incorrectly. Sure, the car looks nice, except for the tendancy for the wheels to slant inward, preventing the tire's full contact patch from touching the ground, which results in poorer traction, leading to slower acceleration and poor cornering. This of course defeats the purpose of lowering one's car (to acheive better cornering).
Now, a slight amount of negative camber can aid in cornering, however, the slant I am describing can be 4 degrees or even more, which is an excessive amount, far more than could ever be useful on the street, especially on stock-sized wheels.
Another interesting point about lowering cars: it really needs to be done properly. I ran into a Rice-Boy who drives a White Civic EX Coupe (like how many of these are out there??), who, after replacing his aftermarket "performance" lowring-springs with his stock springs again (he was taking his car into the dealer and didn't want them to know he messed with the car), exclaimed, "Hey you know, my car handles BETTER with the stock springs!". I'm not surprised. I'm sure some Honda engineer spent days working on those springs... why mess with them?
Appearance vs. Performance
What sets apart Rice-Boys from normal performance enthusiasts is that they are more concerned with the image of speed than they are about actual performace. Few Rice Rockets add the one option that can make a Civic begin to go fast -- a turbochager.
Take for example, the above pictured Civic. It looks pretty mean and fast with its rims and super-spoiler (another staple of Rice-Boy technology), but closer inspection will reveal that this is a Civic DX. The mirrors and liscence plate frames are FLAT BLACK, whereas LX and EX models are painted and would be shiny. A noble attempt at fooling people (as black plastic would stand out more on a red or white car as opposed to a black car), but the outside appearance doesn't change what is under the hood -- a Civic DX economy car engine.
It's not so much that Rice-Boy is trying to make his car look good. There are lots of people out there who just want to make their car look good, and don't care about speed at all. Rice-Boy, however, says that he is making his modifications to enhance his car's performance, when really, all he cares about is fitting some sort of image. For example, he may lower his car, saying that it is for a lower center of gravity, and thus, better handling, but if he doesn't do a good job of it (i.e., his car is bouncing around from his shocks being able to handle the higher spring rates... or he cuts his springs making his car uneven) then we know that really, he cares more about looking low then he does about better cornering.

/\ That is an excellet definition :)
The term "rice" can be taken many many different ways. Just like the Bible. Everyone interprets it different. Theres no use arguing with someone over it because its all opinion.
I wouldn't let it get you upset. The term isn't going to go away in the near future.

A name's a name, I'm not in kindergarten anymore. Name-calling won't hurt me... at least, that's what I tell myself.
I eat rice every day... my name's not "Charlie"... or "Chink" or "Gook".

I parked outside the mall and a dodge truck drove by.
I heard one guy yell "YEA RICE RULES".
His definition of rice was probably because I had a full body kit, hood, flares, and paintjob.
I wasn't mad, i just laughed.
I like my car, alot of people say they like it.
I walk towards my car in the parking lot and ppl look at me and assume its MY CAR.
I'm asian does that mean I'm a riceboy?
And like riceboy said I'm not a "chink" or a "gook".
Atleast refer to me with respect.

i always thoght of a ricer as a poser. Although rice calling is out of control in the domestic crowd. For example, a honda with clear corners will be labeled rice right away, but one of the "cool" mods to do on mustangs these days is clear corners.
Go ahead make your car look nice. I mean ive seen some tasteful body kits and rims on a lot of cars.
But i hate the retards who come to the cruise spot with a funny car wing, but with a stock engine, and then start talking shit about how they can beat this and that.
Also if you modify your car for looks, then why drive it like its a race car? Every friday night (test and tune)my local track is absolutly littered with "rice" I mean its a 16 second festival.
Oh and the attitude doesn't help either. I saw a del sol with a really cool paint job beside me in the staging lanes. So i asked him how much the paint job cost him. And he simply snickered at me. I later saw him run a 17.x at like 80 something mph.

Poser is exactly the word. They wanna look "cool". They've all seen the somewhat stupid, but enjoyable "Fast and the Furious" and have decided that they, too can be exactly like Vin Diesel by adding completely off the wall labels and slogans, euro lights (i didnt even know they made euro lights for this car) and an aluminum wing to their solid stock '92 sedan Accord (no offense here, I saw one of these the other day and got a kick out of it... thats all)
Did anybody else notice the absolutely overwhelming number of rice boys that emerged from their holes after "Fast and Furious"? I was deep into the imports since I was 11 and then this movie comes out about how every kid that works at the local McDonalds can buy a brand spankin' new Nissan and put 85K worth of aftermarket parts into it, instantly go hit the track doing a 10 second 1/4 mile and have hundreds of beautiful women and lots of money falling on top of them... all the sudden everybody with any sort of aftermarket crap is called "rice". That's not cool.
I don't have any problem with people trying to make their cars look nice. More power to them. Personally I would much rather invest in the engine and then with the money left over buy the exterior shit that I like, but whatever floats their boat. I love to see a genuinely nice car rolling down the street. but it doesnt happen often. I saw a Del Sol with BMW insignia on it the other day. I'll put up a post to a website with it when I get to my other computer. It's riced out bad.
The real problem is the people that come out with crap littering their car and no engine that think they can race because it looks "intimidating". The people that have no idea what their doing but they still just look so cool driving that coupe with more "sponsors" than a nascar driver, and, of course, the "Type R" symbol on the back of their 1990 Integra, (when Type Rs weren't around until years later. Sure, they may have had an engine swap, but seriously now...) Their always out there. Revving their engines like their gonna [like they can] race, even tho their behind that grandma in her 94 buick towncar. Gunning it off of every single light no matter who'se behind them or even if its 1 lane or not. They just think its soooo cool that they can peel tires. If they wanna look cool, go sit in a parking lot and look cool. Leave the real racing to the people that really wanna race. Go pose elsewhere because your suffocating our space.
Yea, Don't mind me... I'm just pissed off because some pathetic ricer wanted to race with his stock 94 accord and a muffler you could fit a basketball into. He had just learned to drive a stick the day before and he was out on the 'loop trying to race and he hit the side of my damn car cuz he doesnt know what he's doing. Just me blowing steam from a $1250 accident.

yea, you have to invest tons of money into your car nowdays to have ANY sort of respect. rice burners come a dime a dozen nowdays and with cars like this http://importtuner.com/features/0205it_wildwest/ how in the world are we supposed to keep up? People think absolutely nothing of your car unless it looks absolutely amazing, which require vast sums of cash... and normal people dont have that kind of money. were just struggling to stay in the game but they just keep pumping out these new, absolutely incredible cars and in the end, we get absolutely no respect because we cant afford the $6000 paint job, the 300 watt system, 5 extra-wide LCD screens, DVD player and X-Box.

Damn that is one wild looking RSX. How are you supposed to keep up, it just takes a lot of time like everything else. There is no way you can afford all that stuff in a couple years so get over it. But you could if you wanted to invest all your money into your car.
Something like that RSX doesn't look ricey to me but I can't say the same for everyone else. It looks tasteful, but now something like what was posted in this Honda/Acura forum earlier this year. 4 door, lime green and black Accord(?), that looked disgusting and the wheels didn't help it out either. If I saw that on the road I'd call it rice.

I know what you mean. I stumbled across an import mag a while back and instantly I was determined to get an import and get to work.
It's a good, entertaining hobby, but you just get no respect. EVERYBODYS a critic. When anyone who knows anything about imports, (and some that dont) see a nice looking import on the street, they instantly label it as shit without giving it a second glance. I've heard it a thousand times:
"oh it looks cool but I bet its got a completely stock engine in there"
"man this and that make it look like shit"
"aww, hes just some rich bitch whose mommy and daddy got them that stuff"
"rims are too big" "rims are too small" "the stickers suck" "that sux" "this sux"
My friends do it all the time, label a car shit just cuz it looks nicer than theirs. It's impossible to please anybody, let alone everybody. If your car looks nice, it will instantly be labeled as complete crap because people are jealous, skeptical and cynical. Why can't anybody or better yet everybody just look at a car and call it "nice". Don't be skeptical, dont make pathetic assumptions and dont label it a piece of shit until you really know about the car. Some cars are straight rice and everybody knows it but then youve got some cars that its obvious that somebody put a lot of money into it and that should be given due credit. If it looks nice, say it looks nice and dont act like a dick just cuz your car cant compare (yet).

Some cars are straight rice and everybody knows it but then youve got some cars that its obvious that somebody put a lot of money into it and that should be given due credit. If it looks nice, say it looks nice and dont act like a dick just cuz your car cant compare (yet).
True, one person's tastes wont suite everybody elses. And there isnt a set defenition for whether a car looks good or bad. Tastes differ, all you can be is tolerant i guess. Man its just fuuuked up if anyone straight tells you car looks like shiet. There's shiet talking and average criticism but its a fine line between the two.
Who said ricers were Asian? Most all of the Asians I've come across do good moddin' their cars. most being the keyword there. I've also seen Asians do some incredibly stupid stuff to cars just like any of the other ricers out there. The culture doesn't matter. The intelligence does. Sometimes the taste but most of the time it's the naive or the dumb.
