Is there anyway to get the factory radio rebuilt. I am not sure what the year of the car is, I know it was the first year the VR4 was made. The CFO of the company I work for was wondering if I can find out some information for him. He does not want an aftermarket radio he wants the original or get his rebuilt.any help appreciated.
Also is there a reprogrammed PCM available for the VR4???????? Thanks

First year was 91. I've never heard of getting them rebuilt, but I would assume anything is possible. I just really don't know where I would try...other than local stereo/electronic shops.
I think his best bet would be to locate one from a partout, or from somebody selling their stock one (after upgrading to aftermarket). Perhaps somebody on here still has their stocker, if I did I'd give you mine, but I don't.
As far as reprogrammed ECUs, what exactly did you have in mind. Basically ours aren't reprogramable...there is a guy who raises the rev limiter by swapping some crystal (I could find the link if you want) but that really isn't beneficial if you are stock.
There is a company that repairs leaking capacitators (check our FAQ, if your boss has a 91,92, or 93, he should replace them before they leak. It's an EXTREMELY common problem which is ALOT cheaper to fix before rather than after they start leaking.)
Then basically if you are talking performance-wise, you can either run a piggyback air/fuel/timing controller, or get a new standalone unit like the AEM EMS ($2,000)
I suggest having your boss check out our FAQ, there's alot of good stuff in there, and we'd be happy to help where we can.

I will let him know to check this site out. I have mentioned it before, but i will e-mailhim the actual web address. As far as the radio I found a dealer about 40 miles from us that sends them out to be refurbished.
Thanks for the help.

check the price. I have this thing against dealerships, basically I hate and distrust 99% of them. Granted it maybe quicker, but it wouldn't hurt to check this out http://www.stealth3000gtsalvage.com/
and see if you can get a used one cheaper

i have a stock radio from a 93. you can have it just for the shipping price $15. the #6 preset button fell off, but you could replace it with your boss's preset button. it might look different from your boss's radio, but this all the functions that his does. controls cd changer too. i have the security code for the radio, as well. let me know if you want more pictures of the radio.
i have a stock 6 disc cd changer too. tell your boss if he needs/wants one, he's welcome to it. it works fine. i can get you pics of the changer if you want.
