:banghead: I have a 96 Grand Am SE with 3100 SFI V6. When I put the car in drive after picking up my neice from school, the passenger side airbag blew, and all of the dash lights except the check engine light came on, the tach and temp guages no longer function. I immediately shut off the vehicle. I restarted the car after about an hour and drove it home, car still started fine. A friend told me to diconnect the + battery cable and reconnect after 30 minutes to reset the computer, after doing this the car starts and stalls immediately. I do not have the money to take to a dealer, what can I do on my own and what has to be done by a dealer. it's my only car and I have no one else to depend on for transpo!:banghead:

WARNING!!! This has been reported on many occasions-though recall not issued- the driver airbag could deploy at any time!!!!!!!!!
I am gathering information for you on this from NHTSA.

Brief overview of what I found:
65 complaints
Air bags have two bad habbits, one is they tent not to deploy in the case of an accident, the other is they tend to deploy for no apparent reason.
So your airbags are more likely to deploy if there isnt an accident!?!
Also, you should know that your car has been known to spontaniously compust!!!
Electrical Fires!
If you give me your email address, I saved all 65 ODI ID Numbers for you in a word doc, along with the web address of the site where I found this stuff.
You can either post your email address or just email me and I will attach the file to a reply.
