A guy in my school challenged me today. He said he will race me with his fathers 2006 zo6 corvette v.s. my vr4. Everyone said that he will kill me, so he said he will give me 3 car lenths. To make it interesting somone betted me $100 that I will lose. So I took the bet and the challenge. I just wanted to know what yall think about the challenge and if I made a good decision by taking the challenge?

Unless you are modded and he cant drive you are prolly stil gonna get walked. A C6 Z06 is capable of mid 12s out of the box.

Say bye bye to $100. There's a reason that ZO6's are so respected. It's because they are fuggin' fast. I'd go for at least 5 lengths, if not more. Even then, just concentrate on getting a great launch. This kid probably doesn't know how to launch a RWD car, and will spin the tires all the way through first. Other than that, good luck.

Yeah hopefully he is terrible at driving a stick. How high are you racing to? You may be able to pull off in the begging with AWD but after he hooks up it is all over in a hurry. 500hp in a car weighing less than yours with less drivetrain loss.

What mods have been done to your car, If nothing gut the cats during the weekend, Get a manual boost controller and replace the stock aribox and hotwire your fuel pump you might be able to run 14psi if you are lucky I would personally run 13.5 during the race.................. this is and easy 350-400BHP............................... can you get race gas??? that will help

Race gas will NOT create more power. It will prevent detonation at higher boost levels.

I think that was the point he was trying to make. More boost means better chance of detonation and some C23 would be a good insurance policy.
Anyhow, I think you're screwed. If your car is stock then he is going to drop you like a bad habit. There is a reason the Z06 is around $50,000.

yea man, like everyone is saying. launch hard off the line and hope he cant hook up. Or you can go buy a shot of nitrous really quick lol. Either way, no shame in losing to something faster than you. Just run him hard and shake his hang aftarwards.

high 11's? no, low 11's good drivers have hit 10's stock. But a bad driver may have trouble pulling off a 12 at all.
And they are around 70-80 grand, not 50.

The kid who challenged me is young and probably don't know how to race stick because he drives a automatic monte carlo. My car is not stock, I have 15g turbos, 550cc injectors, hot wired fuel pump, weight reduction, boost controller, air intake, 3in. exhaust straight pipe no cats, and more. My fastest time at the track was 11.9 sec. I thought that I would have a good chance, if he gives me 3 lengths.

I think he means you're going to lose.
At any rate, race, tell us details, and don't blow up.

your right, i meant to say mid 11's but i had no idea they were breaking the 10's bone stock
thats impressive, it usually takes a lot more than that to get in the 10's

Is it to late to put down $100 on the vette? 11.9 at the track is nice, so are 3 car lengths, but what are you racing to. Chances are, in the long run he will dust you providing he isn't a complete idiot and crashes it.
My question is what idiot lets his son (whom I'm assuming is still in high school?) drive his new supercar?

What are you trapping on that 11.9?

I'm guessing he traps ~115-120.
