Hi everybody,

I have got a Peugeot 306 1.9 Turbo Diesel Sport N Registration (1996). I have had the car for 10 Months. In the 10 months everytime i start the ignition (after the pre heat light disappears), it takes a while for the car to start. Sometimes it takes few minutes, sometimes a few seconds, once it didnt start at all and i had to use jump leads.

A week ago, i replaced the Globe Plugs, but the problem is still present.

Someone told me to try cleaning the fuel filter. Anyone got any ideas as to what the problem cause is and how to resolve it?

All help very much appreciated.

Cheers,

Mo.

First of all, welcome to AutomotiveForums.com!

Now back to subject... I'd check if the battery's almost dead/dead. You know, sometimes the things that look most complicated turn out to be simple.

Give it a try, if it isn't the case maybe someone else here has experienced this problem and can help you out. If it happens to be more complicated and you figure how to solve it, I'm sure many people will appreciate it if you share it with us here.

Best of luck to you!

Hey,

Thanks for your reply, very much appreciated.

Do you know how i would check the battery myself to see if it almost dead?

After openning the bonnect, find the battery (in some of the newer Peugeot models it's under a plastic cover). Look for a condition indicator. If it's red - you have to add distilled water (be careful, don't over-fill). If the indicator is white, the battery has to be changed.

This information should also appear in your car manual book, so I recommend checking it in case the colors of indication are different than the ones mentioned above.

I have a maintenance free battery which i tested at 3 garages and all 3 said it is working brilliantly, i also tested the alternator and it is working fine. I have found a work around tho, if i turn the ignition the first time, sometimes the car starts and most of the time it doesnt, if i turn the ignition off just half way and then attempt to start it again it starts. This has worked for me since the first time i tried it. Could it be an ignition connection problem?

Just cant seem to get this problem sorted! :banghead:

Check your glow plug relay as well, might be faulty.
