Hello, my wife drives this car and the ABS light and the brake light came on. I knew that it was just about time for brakes. This car eats brakes so I did the front and the rear, first time for the rear. I could not push in the rear wheel cyl. so I opened the bleeder screw and finished the rear brakes. When I went to bleed the rear nothing would come out. I was told that the proportioning valve was bad. I replaced it but still can not get the rear to bleed. Will a scan tool tell me what is wrong? I think it's called a "OBD II". Need help Please. The car has 140,000 on it. Thanks

You have to have ABS brakes bleed by someone with the proper equipment to do so. You will probably have no brakes, some brakes or brakes that will just go out at any time. If you drive this car to have the brakes bleed your taking a chance. Hope your E brake works and you have good reflexes.

Start bleeding at the master cylinder. Then go to the fittings on the brake unit and bleed each fitting getting the air out. Then retry bleeding the rear brakes. I have used a new pump oil can with rubber tubing filled with brake fluid cracked the bleed screw at the rear wheel and pumped fluid back to the master cylinder. Then I bleed the rear wheels as a little air gets in when shutting the bleed screw.
Air is hard to get out sometimes. I have bleed a gmc pickup with automatic brakes although I don't have them on my vehicles at this time I had a mozda 929 with automatic brakes that I did brake work on and it bleed ok.
Remember a new oil can with no oil in it. Wipe it out and use new brake fluid.
