ok so when my car is idleing in drive it makes this annoying rythmic clacking sound that seems to be coming from under the engine. it used to do it only in drive but now it does it in park too. when the car is driving it is fine and it dies down when u start turning the wheel. does anybody have any idea what it could be?

I think you may need to giv your make and model,
contrary to the title , "nonspefic", oh and your engine size :D

lifters tick pretty good.
On the dies down when you start turning the wheel,
it has power steering i'd assume, your idle may be a little low or your power steering needs to hav the fluid changed.
That might help keep it from dieing down when turn the wheel.
hope that helps

Since you say its sounds like its under the car,
check your front universal jiont. Bearings could be dry or bad and making that click noise.

Ive figured out where the noise is coming from. It is actually the pulley for the power steering thing...the pully is loose and when i move it back and forth with my hands it makes the same noise i hear when the car is running...does anybody know i could fix that or where i could get that part?

I cant remember if those pullies come off or not, but you might hav to get a new power steering pump to correct the problem.
See if it has a set screw or something holding the pully on.
If so a new(or used) pully could fix that.
Good Luck

In and out movement of the p/s pulley shaft is normal, about 1/16 inch, these pulleys are a semi -press fit and require a puller to get off, but careful that still may not be the problem,
