i would recommend you start drinking protien drinks (lots). if your working out you dont have the mass/bodyfat needed to burn to build muscle. you need help giving your body more then it has to give. the spasms are from over working the muscles and there trying to relax.

The spasms are normal after a long and hard workout. They should stop after awhile once your body gets use to it (or at least slow down).

I started drinking Ensure with High Protien. That stuff tastes pretty good, too. Those cramps should stop after a while, atleast they should lessen. that's just personal experience talking, sorry i don't know fully why it happens or how to stop them for sure. i'm sure you'll get a better response once a mod moves this to health and fitness

it could be dehydration or you could be depleting your electrolytes. when you sweat you release water and salts (potassium, sodium, magnesium) and when you get low on these you need to replenish them. filling up with water is good but you need those electrolytes. if you're low they can cause spasms, cramps, muscle pain, and reduced performance. so get a good sports drink (gatorade sucks, it only gives you sugar, water, and salt. get something better, go to eload.com, read the info, try to find some eload or get the next best thing) and use that during your workout.

Potassium is a good bet; get a supplement if you can, or start eating lots of bananas and raisins. Couple that with dehydration and you've got the makings of cramps.

Also, moved to Food, Drink, Fitness and Health to get some more perspective. Let us know if the treatments work.
