Codes after timing belt change

Hi all,

My Neon 1995 SOHC had +123 k on it, and one day it just died at a traffic light (yes I was lucky!!). I was so afraid that I might be the timing belt (saw some coolant under the cranckshaft pulley earlier in the morning) so I didn't try to start the engine until I check the codes. I called a friend and checked them online, needless to say that all indicated timing troubles.
So I bought timing belt and water pump and replaced the shredded TB, tried to start the car and it took me just one start and it was running as before except for the engine light (I guess normal in this case) and some ticking noise (valves possibly) when I accelerate from a stop at low speed.
Mileage is as before about 32/g highway, and I drove from MD to KY (546 miles) and gave me no troubles. I recheked the codes and it is still giving codes 11 and 12

11-Timing belt skipped 1 tooth or more from initial learned value; Intermittent loss of either camshaft or crankshaft position sensor;
No crank reference signal detected during engine cranking

12-Direct battery input to PCM was disconnected within the last 50 key-on cycles

I tried to disconnect the battery for few seconds to delete the codes but that didn't help.

Any suggestions?

reset the pcm and see if it comes back

when you changed the timig belt did yuou disconnect the battery your problem will be that if you didnt dissoconnect the battery

and error code 12 is nothing to worry about

I would also take the cover off and see if its lined up correctly still just to bbe on the safe side.

ive went to the dealership and had a diag done and they gave me a list of problems.On the way home I stopped at a store and it wouldnt start.I fixed all the problems except my thermastate....2months later......Now the engine take 3-5 secs to start.It has the same knocking noise as urs but the thing is 2 of my injectors had a crack in the pastic tip.i bought 1 and wow what a difference,not as much back fire and it actually runs like a car not a tractor.So I have 4 new 310 cfm injectors on-order and going to bore my T/B .In the beggining I bought an OB-2 but it wasnt compatible i have 6 conections not (I THINK) 12.

Can anyone help me with these probs?....But most importantly what code reader did U use?

It sure sounds like your belt jumped a cog. The clacking sounds like you may have done some top end damage. Was your belt tenionor seated properly.

Hi all, thanks for your replies and sorry for taking that long to answer.

First of all I got a new code 21 "oxygen sensor". It looks like a meltdown, everything is going bad. I know it is an old car but I just started a new job and it would take me a little while before I can afford another one. So meanwhile I will do anything within reason to keep it running.

Skatenddestroy: I disconnected the battery cable when I changed the belt, and I took off the spark plugs to align the crank and cam shafts. I will disconnect the battery cable again to clear the codes and see how it goes.

Scott: I used the onboard engine check light to get the codes "key dance thing". I am afraid to get involved with injectors for now since fuel mileage is pretty decent.

yale329: I followed the instructions as far as I can remember to intall the belt and I did apply the required torque (I was working solo). But it was fitting a bit snug on the camshaft pulley so you might be right about skipping a tooth. I also noticed that the "clicking noise" is more heard on hot days. This morning I drove to work and it sounded a bit better than last week.
