Okay i went to look at a 91 hatch std 4speed w/150k on the engine.. the owner wasnt there so i didnt get to hear the engine ..but overall the exteriors condition is very nice..a few small dings that can easly be knocked out..good paint..no rust..i crawled under the car and looked all over..fenders ,quarter panels all good...got no power though but oh well not even a radio lol..but hell i wanna do it over anyways ..hes asking $1300.00 b/o ..i say $900.00 1k if the engine sounds good enough..its gonna need back tires too.....what are all your thoughts on this.. what should be known about the std model?..umm..i can change to a 5speed and put an "si" head on as with a dx right?..if not ill just save a shitload for a swap which might take awhile but oh well...anyways..concerns comments ..etc .. let me know so i know im not gettin screwed over.
thanks !!!

Yeah tranny swap would be easy, you might need Si or DX linkage though, not sure. As for the head it should fit also.

The Truth Is I Have A Std Hatchback Also, And I Have Pretty Much Turned The Interior Into An SI!! I Feel A little More Pride In All The Upgrading I Have Done, Then Originally Having An SI!! I Would Go For It But The Price Seems A Little High, But I Live In Iowa, So I Really Dont Know What The Going Price For A Car Like That Is In A Big City!!!

I Say Go For It!! You Wont Regret It!!

The STD interior isnt half bad, provided it isnt ripped to pieces (like many of the std's are) I like the vinyl.

First thing I would do to that car is get a tach.

I to have a std civic... although if you were to look at it now you would see a hybrid Si. I have the ZC engine and my interior is all Si parts. I got the Si rear seats, Si cargo cover, Si clock, Si glove box, Si sunvisors (yeah thats right) and i even got that Dome light that is in the hatch area. There are only a few little things left i need to get from an Si till im happy. and to think none of that stuff came stock on my car.:(

You gonna do a power window / door locks conversion? Cause that would be pretty cool.

Looking forward to seeing your car on the 14th!

What is the difference between the STD rear seats and the SI seats?

Melt

STD rear seats are vinyl, and I think the Si rear seats have a center storage piece like the 94+ integra rear seats BUT I MAY BE WRONG!

We gotta come up with another abbriveation aside from 'STD' it sounds dirty:bloated:

how about "std."? Since it's not in caps, id doesn't look like an acronym...

The std Seats, And The Si Seats Are Exactly The Same Except The Si Seats Are Cloth, And std Seats Are Vinyl! There Is No Center Storage Piece, That Would Be Awesome Though!

The center storage piece (armrest) was a dealer optional part, just like the audio console. I currently have the armrest, now im just in search of a audio console, so if anybody has one they wanna sell send me a email.

..hes asking $1300.00 b/o ..i say $900.00 1k if the engine sounds good enough..its gonna need back tires too.....

If it's in good shape, I'd say $1300 is a good price depending on where you live. I think that's about what I paid for my car, after I talked him down from $2000.

Hey 1990civic, how/why do you type with the first letter in each word capitalized?

I have most of the Si parts now too, but not that armrest! I didn't know about it! If anyone wants to get rid of one (doubt it) please let me know.

My friend has a 90 or 91 ( i dont remember ) Prelude SI 4-wheel steer. Ive help him work on it a lil bit, I've noticed there isnt very much aftermarket support for it, which is i something i didnt liek very much. I really like the 4 wheel steer, that parts really cool :)

Well i know i love the look of those preludes but yah i agree aftermarket support is limited but hey i dont got tons of money to spend anyways so who knows how far ill actually go with it..i DONT want 4ws ive heard bad things about ti and it costs alot to get worked on.

GTA

His car has like 150000 and never has probs with the 4ws. Only thing we wont do is lower it cause we never get it aligned again :D 4ws is almost impossible to align.

Hey quick question incase you or anyone might know..Do they have springs in just the back? from what i heard the 87's have springs in the back and gas struts in front that have to be slowly adjusted so the car can be lowered and its a pain in the A**....so hopefully it isnt like that.

GTA
08-28-2002, 11:51 PM
the Prelude has springs all the way around im sure.....ive looked at it soo many times...

The back wheels turn the oppsite direction than the front to provide quickers turns, smaller u-turns etc. Its great for around town but you dont notice it much past city speeds.

Nope, you need to get different hubs. the stock std linkage works fine.

The head will fit but it shall run like crap. not worth the trouble unless you get a head for FREE or have one lying around.
