Door triggers

I've had this problem since I bought the car. When the doors are open, sometimes the light on the dash and dome lights turn on, other times no. It seems to me that the switches where the door hits on the car may be bad. Is this true? It's inconsistant on when it works and doesnt. The passengers side doesnt work at all. Should I just get new switches? The trunk always works. Thanks
I'm asking becasue it's hard to do an alarm when you can arm it and have the doors unlock and NOT go off when someone opens the door. Kinda defeats the purpose, don't you think?

Yeah I have the same problem on my passenger door. I have an alarm and the passenger side door is completely unprotected. I'm just taking the one off of my junked Eclipse and using it. They shouldn't be expensive to get from the dealer and I think that might be the only place you can find them besides eBay. But yes, the lights inside are connected to the door triggers. Make sure you get the rubber protector that goes over it too.

They get all nasty and corroded (sp?) inside and they don't ground anymore to make the connection. On 1g's the body panel around it rusts so bad that it can't ground properly either... I would just get new ones. I swapped my passenger side for drivers side so that I would at least have the dome light work for me. lol :p
