Why threads get closed or moved (a.k.a. jay@af)

Did, it occur to you that maybe others on this board may also be wondering about his badass supra? Im sure im not the only one. Maybe someone ells would also like to ask him a new question on his supra.
Maybe COZMO6476 would like to reply to my question and answer everyone else's questions by giving us the lowdown on his supra. The other thread about his supra is back 3 pages. I didn't feel like resurrecting a thread that is that old.

Sorry I didn't PM him the way you "Thought" I should have but that is no reason to close my post. If anything you could have deleted my post, the "PM'd" ME and told me to PM him. If that makes sense, well more sense than closing my post.

Don't mean to flame bro. but I felt it was unnecessary.

LAtes.

w3rd. There's been a few threads that someone posted that I was hoping to see the answers to or the latest updates on whatever, but then they were quickly closed, not by jay, but by another mod and he said use the PM function. Well damn, I'm sure that guy doesn't wanna get 15 PMs about the same thing, so umm.....yeah. :)

The reason we use a thread format is so that post about a similar topic are all in the same place. It is preferable to post anything about his supra in the thread about his supra, regardless of how old the thread is, so that when people go looking for information about his supra, it will be easy to find. That's why we don't delete or lock old threads. If you have something to add to an old thread, then by all means, bring it back up.

Also, you must recognize that this is something of a slow hobby. There will not necessarily be updates daily. (primera man excluded. ;)) I'm sure that he will be happy to post new pictures as soon as he has made some progress. IIRC, the last batch he posted showed little or no progress, because he had been on vacation, but he just posted them because everyone was asking for them.

This is a public message board. Threads that are addressed to only one member are out of place and are closed. It is not our policy to delete them at this time because we know then that the intended recipient will see them, and respond in some way. In this case, I expect he will see that thread and note it as continued interest in his project. If these types of threads become a problem, then they would be deleted.

Just FYI, there are plenty of threads that started out as 'ATTN:' threads, and all I've done is change the title to something meaningful for everyone.

It is our intent to provide a forum where information regarding the hobby can be freely discussed. To that end, we try to ensure that the information be well-organized and easy to find. This is one of the reasons for the FAQ threads as well as the threads that get posted to the top of the forum as "important." This is also the reason that some threads that are off the topic of Car Modeling in particluar will get moved to other forums.

(and BTW kicker, I'm sure Hiroaki gets a million emails from us mere modeling mortals. I know I pester him from time to time. ;) And if you got 15 PMs about some project you were working on, wouldn't it feel pretty good? ;))

You guys bitch at the moderators when they try to keep a sense of order in the forums, and you will still bitch if there weren't any moderators around to keep everything in order......make up your minds!!!

I, for one, appreciate the moderators:) That's partially why I enjoy coming here and don't go to "those other guys" :sun:

Tonio,
I appreciate the moderators too......I moderate on another site and know what a difficult thing it can be....
Which 'other guys' do you mean?;)

Yes, tread them with respect guys. I know how hard work this can be, sometimes more nerve wrecking then modeling itself ;) , that's why I still have no forum on my site. It is still in the build up phase, only since 3 to 4 months now, so finally I guess it's going to be a showroom for finished models (WRC, TOCA and GT mainly)

So give the guys a break wilja? :D

It is fun receiving mails from all over the world, and I'm glad to have car model making as my hobby. However, there are two consequences of taking so long to reply to mails.

1) my wife gets upset, and I end up buying her a?jewelry, books or teddy bears.
2) can't spend enough time for model making. (yeah, that's right, I can use this as an excuse of my slow progress, can't I?) :)

It's mostly about what I said in my first post... :)

Why should I keep quiet when there are people complaining about moderators doing their jobs?
Perhaps young Kicker should learn something about respect.

Jay,
I have no problem with a joke, but there is no need to swear at me, or insinuate swearing at me, it is uncalled for.......there are far more appropriate ways of putting things...
Example:
Keep quiet nooB:D
Now that I would consider a joking manner.....

Ray, You will find my full answer here (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/private.php?s=). ;)

Short story: we're all adults here (note loose usage of the term 'adult'), and we'd like to think that a few swear words here and there aren't going to hurt anyone. Certainly not on the internet. We prefer to focus on content, and I will take action when posts are inflamitory or are personal attacks.

The 'hazing of newbies' is not acceptable at AF. http://216.40.241.68/cwm/3dlil/nonono2.gif
