Good Coaxials to get?

Ok I decided to get a set of coaxials to replace my stock front speakers. I'm not sure at all though what to get. I saw some suggestions for Pioneer, and I was looking on eBay and saw some but not sure how good they are so I figured I'd get everyone's opinion before I buy some! Mainly what I need to know is what size to get (I'm pretty sure my front speakers are 6.5", not 100% sure but I think they are), so would I need to buy 6.5" coaxials? And can I just put them in the stock mounts or do I have to custom mount them like I always see people talking about doing on here? Also what is a good amount of watts for them? I see some Pioneer's on eBay with like 35RMS and 180 Peak and I see some others, like some JL's and Alpine's that are like 50+RMS and 250+ Peak. I don't want to spend a fortune but I'm also not limiting myself to the $30-$40 Pioneer's from eBay, I can spend more than that I just don't want to spend a ton (ie. Like getting into the hundreds).
Also for an amp, I have an almost new MTX 280 watt amp that my sister gave me for my birthday, would that be enough to power those front speakers or not? If not, what is a good amp that won't cost me a crapload?
Or if you want to link me to some examples instead of just telling me, that's fine to. Any and all opinions are appreciated!

Which is why I asked for suggestions. And what is a price range I should expect to pay for a decent setup?

Wow I never thought it would be that much. Well I'm an 18 year old college student so I can't afford to drop a grand on just a set of front speakers. Is there any cheaper alternatives? I'm not looking at the moment for top end quality or anything, I just want something to replace my stock speakers that are about shot in my car.

I think he was refering to an entire system, while there are component systems that are well within the 1000+ range, however you can get a set of great comps for 120+ or coaxials for about 80+. Look on ebay at either mb quarts, infinity, CDT, alpine. Theres some other good brands but these are plentiful on ebay for decent prices.
Check crutchfield for sizes, heres a set of 6.5" components from mbquart

these are just examples, look around look at reviews, ask on here and other places what people think, but ebay is a great place to get great prices on audio equipment.
