The other night something blew on my car. It was a yellowish fluid an doubt its coolant. But the problem is my steering wheel is stiff and wont budge for crap. I think (but dont know for sure) its a hose for the power steering or something of that sort. But i dont know a whole lot when it comes to cars. Anyone know any possibilities on what the matter might be? Some of the fluid was starting to leak through the front head lights. Now im out of commission :| Any help would be apretiated.

Open the power steering resivior cap and see if there's any fluid in there. If not, try adding some and see where it leaks from. Then you can find out where its leaking from.

little update. it was low on power steering fluid. But it doesnt leak from anywhere. I drove around the block and found out my radiator hose had a hole an was squirting out fluid. I changed the hose and added more coolant. But the problem is still there. Now its making noises. I dont know where to sart :| Ah.. and its a 99 gs 420a 5 spd And the steering wheel is still stiff as a board.

"Power steering fluid" is usually red because it's usually just automatic transmission fluid. That's what the Haynes manual calls for anyways. Follow the hoses to/from the pump to check for leaks and check the connections on the pump itself because this is obviously a power steering problem. Unless you mean the wheel just won't turn at all. Will it turn, but with difficulty? Or will it just not turn at all?

It wasnt power steering fluid but coolant that was everywhere. But the hose for that is fixed. I filled the power steering and the hoses dont leak or anything. and they are all connected. i can turn the wheel but i have to put some muscle into it. When i pick up speed i can move it slightly better. But on turns i have to pull the wheel pretty hard to make it turn.

fan or timing? I have a new timing belt. And the fan belt is fine.

He means the power steering pump belt. Very good question actually... If it's there then I'd say the pump failed maybe? I don't know if a power steering pump can fail or not, but I could have. I took mine off and I've gotten used to it.

All belts are fine. I doubt it has to do with the power steering now.. and just with the steering. no luck yet :| Thanks for all the responses.
