Snowplow headlights?

I'm looking at the WS6 as a possible buy this winter or spring (haha winter in Colorado in a Trans Am) and can't complain about the power or most of the body styling. Seriously though, what is the deal with the snowplow headlights? Pretty much the only sportscar to make it into the 2000s without losing that sleek aero design and they give us those drag-inducing popups? Haha. Are there any companies offering an inset aftermarket headlight? I know certain import cars with popups have seen such things.

i personally like them. Most aftemarket kits for non-flip up headlights suck because they dont sit flush wit the bumper

Well you could always spend $1000+ for some built in headlights:

But that would be a total waste of money IMO.

Waste of money....for one of the most disgusting mods available for these cars.

Personally, I like 'em, except for the price. If you want your car to look unique that sets it apart from the rest, that might be a way to go. But the price isn't worth it at all.

I consider mine set apart from others.

Wheels and some niteshades paint. $850.

Nice, those are just what I was looking for. Popups that don't sit flush when raised not only look stupid but cause drag. Then again, it's a domestic sports car so I guess a few of you wouldn't care if it had a parachute hanging from the back as long as there was a V12 to make up for it. lol A grand is a little pricy though. Maybe I'll just look for a Camaro.

Well, what I would like to know.. is why is it such a big deal to you? The drag they do create is so minimal that you wouldn't even notice a difference even if you do buy those aftermarket conversions. Do you really plan on trying to go 100+mph at 2 am to where drag would be a major coeffecient? I don't think the popups look stupid at all, if anything, they look even more aggressive than that of the 3rd gens, and the 1st half of the 4th gens.

I was about to say the same thing. The "drag" the pop-up headlights create is nearly non-existant unless you are racing it in the American LeMans series or something. I could see an argument or complaint about them being prone to failure all the time and the motors needing to be replaced/rebuilt more often than Id like. But drag...

yeah.. drag is the least of your worries..specially when ya got 300+hp ontap ;D

but in all fairness..those headlights would look pretty nice.. if they were blacked out on a black car.. itd look like the lights were down..the WHOLE time! =D i think it looks alright IMO..

but it does look weird all clear.

Yo champs...guess what, drag affects more than just topspeed. Handling and mileage are a factor as well. And of course I want to do 100+ at 2AM. What the hell did you get your muscle car for?

And that kind of attitude is what gets cars destroyed and people killed. As I said before.. the drag that the headlights do create is so minimul that it is almost non-existant.

I have a Trans Am that gets to 100 MPH in under 10 seconds.
Drag isn't an issue.

My car doesn't see 100 MPH unless it is on a track.

lol i do 100 a lot.. with my windows down, when no ones around of course.. and only on freeways.. and so far as i know, ive never been drag limited...
camaros stock can top out a little over 160~ish. doesnt really matter, cuz you have a limiter at 155..

also, if youre worried about mileage..dont go over 50..

This might be rude but if your going to be driving 100 at 2 in the morning you might as well drive with your lights off because there is no way you are going to be able to stop in the distance your headlights light up.
