screeeeech Thump crunch

....and the back of my car looks unhappy.   :angryfire :angryfire :angryfire
I was sitting stopped at a red light (as you do) with a line of stationary traffic ahead of me. I heard a screech of locked-up brakes behind me, which worried me. I looked in the rear-view mirror, but the car behind me wasn't moving, but I was still worried. Then I heard a thump behind me - which really bothered me - and then felt the crunch as the guy behind me hit me. Thankfully I have nice brakes, and the person in front had begun to move away, so I didn't hit them.
What had happened was that some woman (in a p.o.s. old cruddy normal car) had barrelled into the back of a Silvia sitting behind me, and pushed him into me. :angryfire The really worrying part is that she didn't know what actually happened!!!! The Silvia was a mess - the bonnet was bent up and couldn't open, the guards were fucked, the bumper was rooted, and he was worried about the engine, cos he said it made a funny noise when he started it up afterward. :angryfire Guess I'm lucky, but I'm still damn annoyed.
So of course we exchanged all the details, and I've rung my insurance co. and will go to see the panelbeater this afternoon. Helpfully, she admitted all responsibility for it at the time.

I can guess. Car in gear, brain firmly in "Neutral".
The best way to judge how a person drives is to watch how they push a shopping cart.

I know the feeling, that same thing has happened to me. Glad you weren't hurt (though you should get the neck checked anyhow - it may start acting up later) and hopefully insurance does right by you. It's sad how a few idiot drivers can make things so inconvenient for the rest of us.

That's a rotten deal Moondawg.
I'm a little surprised that no-one voiced any concerns about a Silvia getting worked on both ends...
Do you think there's any frame damage to your car, or is it mostly cosmetic?

What is with all the drivers who don't bother to drive properly.
Driving involves making NO contact with other cars at all. Its bad luck that the silvia got shunted into you moondog.
But I wouldn't trust the insurance companies or the other driver. My Bro got hit by an International Student the other month, and they refuse to pay out, and their insurance company does too. (100% other drivers fault). So its had to go to the small claims tribunal.

Now do we appreciate the Jetta's plus-sides???? Seriously that thing has a thick steel bar behing the bumper that totals the car that rear-ends me, but does piss all to the cars rear-end. It happened to the old owner, and I got the half-sagging bumper with two small dents in the plastic trim to prove it (After a Corolla hit it at 100 k's, while the Jetta was going 60) :finger:
As for the driver that hit the Silvia that hit you, chances are she was yakking on her mobile or something else distracting, dammit cunts like that piss me off

A new bumber shouldn't be that hard to source, especialy if insurance is paying for it, or any good panel beater these days also has a plastic welder, another easy fix.
And this time you know which panel beater not to take it to!!!
And be glad you own a skyline and not a Sylvia.
About large steel bars though, My old Triumph as well as being built from 1/8 inch British plate steel, also had a 1/4inch piece of steel box section mounted inside the heavy steel chrome bumber to surport the large towbar, that itself was mounted to a 1/5inch piece of flat steel.
Unforunatly no one ever ran into the back of it. :(
But I have been sitting at the lights in the truck and noticed the car behind me stop rather close to the back step, then felt the truck move a little.
But no one got out, so off I went. At the next stop I had to rub off a layer of that flash changing colour paint from the edge of the step. :D

Well where else does anyone get to pilot an object weighing 1500kg, travelling at a velocity of 27.6 metres per second while they change their CD and talk on their mobile... and get their skills reviewed once in 55 years?

Don't get me started. On my way to work yesterday, I was cruising along in the left hand lane of the freeway. To the right of my was a blue ford probe, who, without even using his turn signal starts coming into my lane, and I'm RIGHT NEXT TO HIM! I laid on my horn, and he didn't even flinch... I don't think he eve heard me. So I ended up behind him, and my mild case of road rage kicked in, so I was riding his ass and flipping him off... So, this guy finally pulls back into the right lane and slows down, I get up next to him, and he gives me this look like "what did I do?" That bastard had NO IDEA what he did. So I flipped him the bird again and took off. I was sooooo pissed.

It's kind of worse when the other person is oblivious to the havoc they almost caused. - And when the only reason their car isn't occupying your passenger seat is because you're actually awake in control of your vehicle, but they shake their fist at you!!!!!!!!! That's the one that always gets me.
People were really trying to take me out today. Once in Andy's car and once in mine. I was driving Andy's car, and was driving past a bus pulled over in a bus stop. When I'm right by the side of him, he suddenly flips on his indicator and tries to drive into the side of me!!!!! Dumb-shit.

tell me about it. In the past week I have had 3 people try and change lanes into the side of me :(
the stupid shits need to wake up before they get behind the wheel. I would have let them hit me too had it been the passengers side of the car (as that needs repair work already) but they were all on the drivers side. The one today was a large concrete mixer that tried to change lanes without a) looking b) indicating and c) looking:eek: I had to sit on the horn for about 1/2 a minute before the prick woke up and realised that I was there:bloated:
the stupid shits need to wake up before they get behind the wheel. Truck drivers like that piss me off- Whats worse is when they stop and don't check behind if they are backing into a loadding bay
The worst part is- I don't have a horn- I was playing around with it an broke it

Talk about fender benders. The other day I was going home and I'm on this stretch of parkway which is just two lanes. I'm doing about 60, which is how fast I normally drive, when I pass this dude in a Ford Probe. Now, I passed him but only because he was going slower than me, but for some odd reason he thought I was racing. Out of the corner of my eye I see him creeping up to me. I speed up and so does he. Finally we come to a light and he pulls up along side of me. He's smiling and revving his engine, I just roll my eyes and then it happened. I hear the painful screech of tires trying to stop a car very fast. I glance into my mirror to peek and don't see a car, but I look over to my right and see the guys car jump forward from the impact. The screech was a car behind him. It was a lady on her cell phone and wasn't paying attention. I felt bad for homeboy, but, shit happens.

Another Ford bites the dust
Oops, yeah... :o I do feel bad for the guy who got hit. Fender Benders suck. Thankfully the few times I've been in a car involved, we've always been "victim" and very little if any damage occured. *knocks on wood* Now I'll be paranoid for the next week when I drive or ride. :o
