Hi everybody, just purchased an 07 sedan

I pulled the trigger on a silver 07' Sedan (auto) lastnight for $11,000. The way all of the salesman and I went back and forth I don't think they wanted to sell it that cheap but I told them I didn't want to spend more than $10,000.. was that simple, they finally got me to $11,000. They were asking the msrp of 13 plus a $4,000 markup which I literally laughed at when they pulled out that little 4 square piece of paper. They also ended up giving me $500 for a 92 Escort that I was about to take to the junkyard.. It ended up cracking the head between the #1 and #2 cylinder but it starts eventually if you're patient and as long as you keep the rpm's up it'll stay running. They didn't even start it when they said they'd give me $500, guess they assumed it ran :) either that or they didn't care cause they just wanted to sell me the Aveo. Did I pay an ok price?? $10,500 financed at 3.9 through GMAC and a broke down Escort? Should I have bargained more??

The main reason I am posting is because I know there is tips for all cars out there, when should I do my first oil change?? what oil should I use? intake help with mpg enough to make it worthwhile? Is there an exhaust out there that is quiet but able to help on mpg? quiet is a must.. I don't want it sounding ricey, I'd stay stock before I did that. How about a k&n filter?? or should I go for the intake.. which one? should I use any synthetic fluids? Anything I need to watch out for? I saw on ebay they have a cruise control kit for an 06, is it the same as the 07?? will it fit? is getting premium gasoline effective or no? hmm.. I know there is more, please just share some knowledge or point me in the right direction so I can read what I need. Thankyou everybody, I know this was long but I appreciate you reading it and sharing your knowledge/advice

-Cory

You got a heck of a deal -- looks like GM is giving these away again! The trade-in was a gift, so you paid $10,500 for a just-intoduced car with auto and air while everyone buying a Yaris, Fit or Versa is lucky to get $100 off MSRP -- if that!

I'd put a few thousanf miles on it to break it in and see how your mileage is before adding air intakes or exhaust. Also, they might void your warranty.

Personally, I'd change the oil for the 1st time at 3000 with the recommended standard oil and after that switch to full synthetic and extend the interval between changes.

I use Mobil 1 (5-30W) in a 2004 Aveo, changing every 8000 -- it seems to have added about 1 mpg.

Can't advise on the cruise -- use regular unleaded since the car is made for that -- premium is a waste of money.

well they didn't want to sell it for that price, I told them I only wanted to spend $10,000.. I was wanting an 06 with manual tranny but the closest one they had was an hour away and they implied we might be able to work a deal on the auto for around $13,000.. I told them I'd rather wait but they insisted on selling me the car "that day" so I told them the only way I'd do it is for $10,000 plus my car, we ended up meeting at $10,500.. I was actually willing to pay $11,000 but I knew by the run around I was getting I could go even lower so I didn't let them in on that part ;)

It seemed like a really good deal, and I knew I wasn't going to get any lower(the fact that me leaving wasn't working anymore lol) so I went in and said ok I'll take it, then they tried to still charge me like 11,200 plus my car.. they tried getting me.. damn salesman

btw, I love my car

I took a few pics you can see at http://www.southpad.com

all I have done so far was add Sirius sat' radio, some tint will be next and maybe some wheels down the road

GREAT price! I have a feeling since they aren't marketing these cars they aren't selling that well. I've only seen 2 around my area. The Cobalt is a better car for not much more money. Oil change recommendations are in the owner's manual. Type of oil is very specific on what they want you to use and from what I've heard, does make mileage difference. Gas is regular. Why would anyone want to put premium in a car like this? An Aveo is hardly a horsepower or performance car. Heck, they don't even recommend you put any kind of trailer hitch on it because it will tear the car apart. This is a commuter car and nothing more. Some will try to make it look or sound like something more but those cars will probably be in junk yards 5 years from now. I've seen several new 2006 cars on EBay for over $15K that aren't selling.

I live across the street from a Chevy/Cadillac dealer and they've only had 1 in so far -- sold within days. Doesn't seem to be any big push from them on the smaller cars. The lot is chock full of full-size SUVs, trucks and Caddies.

actually i have been hearing quite a few advertisements on the radio and seen some ads in the newpapers on the aveos. i dont watch much t.v. to know if they are puttin em up on t.v. (dont have lot of spare time) but needless to say i am hearing alot more hype on the new 07s. i went down to a dealership and sat in one and i have to say that they feel alot more sporty and look alot better interior wise. i aint to crazy about the exterior of the car, it reminds me of a Hyndai Accent or something along those lines.

Could be a regional thing. Up there, maybe the Aveo is something people need with tight parking in Chicago, etc. In Texas, where I am, if it doesn't weigh 2 tons or more, 19 feet long and 6.5 feet wide, it doesn't fly. I haven't seen or heard ANY advertisements down here.

I just purchased a 07 Aveo LT for 11000. I also got the feeling that they were trying to sell it to me for as low as they can. The sticker price was about 15000. So I think I didnt get a bad deal. I got a Fit priced at for sticker price and not lower. Im happy with my Aveo and it looks luxury inside with the wood and leather.
