hey all, i'm just wondering how a 5th gen prelude will compare to an audi a4 (1.8)?
i don't know much about audi's in general.
thanks!

A 2001 Prelude is 200 hp stock. A 2001 A4 Quattro 1.8T is 170 hp stock. The A4 weighs about 200 pounds more. BUT....I would go for the A4...actually I am giving up my prelude (4th gen) to buy an A4. I think the A4 is such a perfect combination of luxury, performance, and handling. It's got a 1.8L turbocharged engine AND it's AWD, and it looks good. With a modded chip alone, you can get over 200 hp out of it....that's not mentioning all the other mods available for it out there, like upgrading the turbo. I've always been a fan of the lude (and probably always will be), but the A4 has definitely converted me.

Yep i was thinkin of going Honda path with the abunndance and accessibility to parts. but i spend so much time driving i rather ride in something more comfortable. u dont like new body styling? the taillights are attractive and the body is more aggressive, i dont dig the boxy headlights... 5gen ludes with converted headlights are a beaut... too bad its not rwd, it would kick more ass.

i am having this sort of dilemma right now (except not with a prelude....too heavy for me)......anyways i just totaled my CRX (RIP....the soul will live on in another though.... ) and i am looking into buying my moms 97 A4 1.8T or a new WRX.....both have what i want which is AWD and Turbo....the WRX is a whole lot faster stock then the 1.8T but then you lose certain comfort aspecs like leather, seat warmers, etc. it is really a tough decision for me to make......:bloated:

In your situation I'd definately get the A4 and use the money you saved from not buying a wrx to upgrade the turbo. APR Stage 3 for $4k 280hp.
:bandit:
That's what I will be doing this summer.

But I don't think that was his best run, I think he has done a 12.9 @ 106 run since then.
Eiter way, new Audis are not race cars, to heavy.
edit: fixed photo.

12.9 is pretty good....and you are right about that about the audis.....i mainly want something pretty fast that has good handling because i am getting more and more into road race/auto-x....i dunno i am still torn between the WRX and the 1.8T

With the right driver, theres not much out there that can compete with the WRX. Unfortunately, it's still a Subaru Impreza.
I would have bought the A4, but that's just me.
