Cheap drink holders on the 2000 528

The dring holders on my 2000 528 both in the front and back, are the cheapest things I have ever seen and NOT worthy of a $35,000.00
car. They are too small for most American size drinks, and are very easy to break. Does anyone know if BMW plans to do away with such shoddy design in the future?
