Proper Way to Slip Clutch?

Hello All,
I've been driving stick-shifts for several years now and am not a newbie to 5-speeds. However, I was wondering if anyone can offer up some suggestions as to the best way to shift gears on the 2002 330Ci?
I always match RPMs in 1st gear
Usually match in 2nd
And rearly match in 3-5 (unless accelerating hard)
However, it seems like I have to slowly slip the clutch into gear or the car will bob and jerk. I'm just a little worried that riding the clutch too much might cause un-needed ware.
Also, I've found that giving just a bit of gas when shifting in the upper gears does help a lot with a smooth transition, however I always thought that you shouldn't have to "double clutch" if not driving hard.
Any thoughts?

in the lower gears it's always more "sensitive" when making gear changes driving normally. to get that smooth shifting effect you have to "slip" the clutch which is normal.
