Does anybody know when they are going to bring the nissan skyline to the us. I also hear that its going to be the Infinity skyline because nissan is making the 350z so infinity needs a sports car. Any info???

Sketchy rumors all, at the moment Whitey, but the Skyline is supposed to come to us. Whether or not this is going to be unfortunate news to you remains to be seen, but the styling of the new GTR (let us remember that the G35 is the Skyline sedan in Japan) will be derived from the GTR concept that debuted at the Tokyo Auto Show last year.

I think the new Skyline is real ugly. It doesn’t look anything like a Skyline to me. They got it right with the R34 and then went and stuffed it all up. :(

I wasn't going to be the first to say that, but now that you have, I agree:D

i believe that the infiniti g35 is the new skyline..
at least that is what every mag i have read said...
they make it currently with a four door, and a 2 door is coming... i think all skylines are going the way of the v, though, no more inline 6 as far as i can tell....

Well, Spec2 Girl, I don't know what to say about Nissan's decision. Mostly because it hasn't finalized much of anything. If they go with the GTR concept styling, let's hope they fix that atrocious nose. The rest of the car isn't too bad. I kind of like the side profile, but those headlights and that square tractor grille have got to go.
Engine wise, the RB26 is getting long in the tooth. In order to conform to US emissions standards, Nissan would basically have to rip the guts out of it and start fresh. And that's just for current standards. 5 or less years down the line, the RB26 wouldn't be able to comply period. Nissan has taken a look at the other Japanese supercar to come to the US, the Acura/Honda NSX and has seen its problem. The NSX wasn't an ohmigod awesome supercar like a Ferrari 355, or a Lotus Espirit, or a Corvette, all of which were at a similar pricepoint. Nissan wants to compete, so they're taking an engine that exceeds the standards and hyper tuning it to make the sort of neck-snapping power that the Skyline is known for and that will put it in with the Corvettes and Ferraris in the states.
Ultimately, the biggest lament will be that Nissan didn't see the market thirteen years ago and has to start from scratch in the states. I say thirteen years because I most want an R32 GTR. Go figure....
Also, let us not forget the original Skyline which was little more than a more stylish coupe cousin of the Bluebird/Datsun 510. I'd think a 3.5L V-6 is still a far sight over a SOHC 1.6L four.

just because it isn't one to you... doesn't mean that isn't what it is...
you can't bring the turbo rb26 here b/c the turbos sit where the steering input shaft would go if it were right hand drive. that's why they are all lhd

I think the 32 is the coolest skyline... especially when Nakazato is driving it, and has his theme music on!
It's not impossible to convert a RHD to LHD, you just have to work around the steering shaft with your exhaust :D
