01 Accord airbag light

Just checking to see if any info can help ..I bought this car 4 days ago durning the test drive I didn't see the side airbag light come on , after we had it for a few days my wife said the side airbag light would came on a few sec. then go back off.We went on a 300 mile trip yesterday and it came on 3 times ..Is this something I need to be worried about???Any help would be Great Thanks

If the SIR/airbag light is on your SIR system is not working right and in case of a accident the air bags may not work.
If you bought it from a dealer or used car lot it was bad at the time you bought it.
Also it may not pass a saftey inspection.
Take it back and see if they will fix it on there dime.

No no no your car is functioning perfectly fine. I was having the same thing with my car 00 Acura TL which is basically an accord but an acura so I looked in my maunel. It basically explains that if that light comes on the car has shut down the side passenger air bag because something blocking it or for some reason but look in your manuel that light means its doing what its supposed to do.

To know if you have a problem, pay attention to if the light comes on with the seat absolutely empty. If the side airbag light off light comes on in that circumstance then take it in.

My '02 Accord had a recall for the switch for the side airbag light. Mine goes on if there is weight on the seat and no weight on the back, as if a child were seated. Also happens with a couple pizzas
